2023-24 College Football Transfer Portal Thread

Booker (KS)
One broadcast I saw when they were playing Texas (?) said he was a Sunday player in the future.
and Bishop (WVU) got first team all Big 12. Trill Carter (TX) honorable mention.
A poster lambasted me on here, saying Trill wasn’t a loss because Baugh and Eastern were doing decent, despite the fact that Trill achieved that same status with us last year as well and likely would have been a starter here again, vs. rotational player in Texas.
Flip Dixon (Rutgers) had a good year too.
Would have been worth his weight in gold

That was me and he was honorable mention all Big Ten last year and still not very good. Eastern and Baugh were good players more than decent. We didn’t miss his big fat ass one bit. Wright, Bishop, Dixon, Booker. We missed them a lot.

Agree to disagree regarding Trill - you’re not completely insane🤪, as we agree on the other D transfers as noted in my previous post (the one you responded to).

I’ll take two different conferences recognitions over an anonymous poster on GopherHole’e eval on Trill the Thrill!

Enjoy your weekend 😃

Anyone watch Howland or Indiana games. I never saw Indiana play this year. Would be nice to get a RB that can catch, is this the guy?
Didn’t watch him, but I doubt he’s a pass catching option. Only had 3 receptions on the season. Running the ball he averaged 4.7 per rush. He had 354 yards on 75 carries with 2 td’s. Sounds like he could be a great short yardage option with that size. Goal line specialist???

the portal is just getting nuts. Ohio State has 12 players in the portal. South Carolina has 15 players in the portal. some of these teams are going to be playing 2nd- and 3rd-stringers in their bowl games.

I saw one note that a QB who transferred from Notre Dame to Alabama is in the portal again - but instead of planning to play football, he intends to play Lacrosse. apparently he had D1 Lacrosse offers coming out of High School.

to quote Charlton Heston in "Planet of the Apes"

"it's a Madhouse - a Madhouse....!"

(and now I have the "Dr. Zaius" song in my head from that Simpsons episode.....)

I don’t think the numbers are too unusual, but it does appear that more are jumping in a lot sooner. Haven’t checked the data though.

We're not in the stratosphere for this type of guy. We can get good players in the portal, one's that will help us be good and win, we're not getting him though.
We're not getting him I agree, but having him didn't help Texas A&M very much. They were a losing team in 2022 with a much worse defense than Minnesota, and this year they didn't beat anyone with a winning record and got the coach fired, wasting $80M in the process.

Gophers getting a visit from Bucknell CB Ethan Robinson this weekend. First team All-Patriot League. Offers from Arkansas, NC State, Auburn, Cincinnati, Illinois, USC, West Virginia, UCF, Charlotte, Arizona State, Memphis, Buffalo, Pittsburgh, Liberty and UMass.

Dang, getting him to visit here first (presumably) is huge given that list. Nice.

Need someone to replace Jones at the other starting CB spot. Do we not have anyone coming up in the DB room that could do it? (Serious question)

That is quite the offer list.

Tariq Watson played a lot this year. Rhyland Kelly and Zaquan Bryan will be other options. But I'm sure they would like a veteran transfer option (Ala Trevon Jones this year) to have a bit more security.

Saw that there are over 1,100 players in the portal. Following on X it's interesting to see the affects across the board of levels. St. Thomas and St. John's have guys jumping in the portal, I'm assuming to move up a level in play.

Saw that NDSU has to kick their collective in gear as a player was offered $250,000 to leave.
