Well we saw two coaches with Minnesota basketball ties have a big moment last night with Eric Musselman beating Duke and getting a court rush, and Niko Medved beating Colorado and getting a court rush. Well tonight let's see if a third coach with Minnesota basketball ties can have his moment in Ben Johnson.

I am not sure there will be enough students for a court rush, or even a line in the concession stands, but we sure need a win. Sunday was gross. The effort, the execution, the post game press conferencce. At this point any non-conference loss the rest of the way will not be well received by the masses.

So find a way to get this team competitive CBJ. That's your job.

GET 'ER DONE JOHNSON!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Play defense, take care of the ball, make open shots. This is our only opportunity to right the ship before traveling to OSU. Hoping Ben makes adjustments to the starting lineup based on our last performance. If he trots out the same lineup that just got wrecked, we could be in for a long conference season. Go Gophers!

I'm doing PA tonight for a HS Girl-Boy BB double-header, so the best I can do is glance at the score during time-outs.

Someone please make a few sarcastic comments on my behalf.

(when I do glance at the score, I'm going to have to make sure my mic is off. otherwise, the crowd might hear me using some inappropriate language......)

Its more likely JB Bickerstaff has a big moment. But I might watch some of the second half after bedtime for the kids. I might not as the Ant-less Wolves tip off at 7pm and if I want to be happy that may be the best course of action.

Their star is a 6'1" guard named Jordan Johnson who averages just over 23 points per game. He scored 23 against OK State and had 31 against Loyola Chicago.

They put up a lot of shots (17th in the nation at 66.2 per game) but not nearly as good at making them (87th in the nation at 28.7; 234th in the nation in field goal percentage).

They're outrebounded by 4.7 per game so we should have an advantage there (we're outrebounding opponents by 9 per game).

They're pretty good at getting to the line (37th in the nation at 24.8 attempts per game) and hit them at a 75.8% rate.

They are also good at getting steals (10.8 per game, 11th in the nation) and, unfortunately, we are pretty good at giving up steals (10.3 per game).

I have no problem with the starting lineup or any combination thereof for UNO. We need to see MN play at the speed of our choosing, defending instead of escorting opponents to the rim, and getting open looks. Make of miss, that's all you can hope for. Ihnen and JOJ are defensive liabilities despite their length. I trust CBJ has had a talk with Hawkins about being a proper PG/distributor, and message will be received. With a foot near the paint, don't want to see Payne dribble--only pivots to the rim or kick outs. As a spectator, I don't love seeing Garcia play the 5 and much prefer him facing the basket with Payne or Thor playing low. We have 5 proven shooters that will make if given the time to set, assuming Carrington doesn't have Kalscheuritis. We saw the first 30 min vs Mizzou that it can happen. CBJ has mixed in zone before and may again, but I fear college kids treat a zone defense like "rest" instead of a harrassing zone. MN will likely put up 90 pts tonight with a lot of points in the paint.

One thing I do get tired of hearing is how Betts has taken great strides, has hops, gotten stronger, and will really help this team. Wilson is so huge in the paint, his screens will be walls. Keinys is a terrific defender, and will bring defensive intensity... Where are these guys? A hairdo, a Rock'em Sock'em robot sitting on bench, and Charlie Brown sitting next to the trainers...

What else are the voices telling you?

Ihnen needs to stop shooting the ball. Get inside the 3 point line and make something happen. He is a FLOATER---NEEDS to change for the Gophers to be decent!!

Mitchell also needs to play winning basketball, he is a turnover machine that likes to jack 3's up all the time. BRUTAL

Gophers are 1-0 all time against the New Orleans Privateers.

They won 80-65 on December 7th, 2013.

Gophers got double digit scoring for 6 players.

Walker, Osenieks, Hollins, Hollins, Mathieu and King. Ahanmisi was the only other scorer with 7.

Announced attendance was 11,228
