I hope so too. Agreed that he would be unstoppable if he had a little more game in the 6 foot range where he just rises up and drops in a turnaround jumper from the baseline. If he comes back next year, he may just be the best player in the country if he continues to improve at this pace.I really like Oturu. Having said that, I think he needs to improve his scoring ability when on the block with his back to the basket. When guarded tough down low, too many times he doesn't get a good shot off. Last night he spun quick and knocked one down off the glass, and that was the best I've seen from him. Loved it, but he doesn't show it enough in my opinion. I think he can, and will, get a lot better. I really think he needs another year. I hope we get that year as fans.

I’m seeing it the same way.Chances at being a Junior
If he comes back: 100%
If he goes pro: 0%
If I wasn't sold on Oturu going pro after this year, i might be after today's game - but not for the reason you might think. Whatever is wrong with his shoulder (it's not nothing, he has a past with it), seems to either still be bothering him, or to have resurfaced. There's been at least a couple times recently when the game's been paused while he deals with pain from that area. With this development, if that's gonna continue to be a thing for him - he may want to get into the league sooner than later, before it becomes a more visible issue and potentially hurts his draft stock.
Going to have to disagree. When on the block with his back to the basket, it is basically a guaranteed bucket and/or foul. We haven't played anyone who can stop him 1 on 1. It's when he gets doubled that he struggles. He needs to do a better job of anticipating double teams and passing out of them when they happen.
I must admit, I'd now put the odds at 0% he's back next season. Teske is a dang good (and tall) post player, and Oturu just toyed with him yesterday. Didn't matter whether it was away from the basket or close to the basket.
Going to enjoy the heck out of watching Oturu the rest of the season, because this is it. Heck of a talent!
agreed. he seems to have had something click the last several games and is now appearing dominant, which he hadn't shown to this degree priorSeems like every game the chance of him NOT entering the draft is getting closer to zero.
Teske is a pretty solid center. He oughtta sue Coach Howard for hanging him out to dry with no help against Oturu. From the numbers you posted, I assume that Howard has been doing this all year with the defense.By no means do I want to take away from his performance yesterday (he was AMAZING) but to the above point that "Teske is a darn good post player" That is 100% not accurate. This year in the B1G, Michigan has allowed Oturu 30 Garza 44, Tillman 20/11 Cockburn 19/10 and T Williams 36/20. Again not to take away form Oturu's game, but fact is that Michigan is an putrid interior defensive team and has been abused over and over by competent bigs.

Correct, BGA, Howard does not believe in doubling the post. UM was staying with our shooters.
Favorite kind of player. What he has done in 30 months is off the charts. Just incredible. Said it before the season that this is the best Gopher roster in a very long time. That was a fun performance to watch!
