When this is done and you do a sort by the average NET rankings, could you also include the NET rank of the team? In other words, what was Texas Southern's NET ranking, then what is this year's scheduled opponents' average. Just by math, the higher ranked teams to begin with will have a higher delta with their schedule, but I think it will be telling if you're lower-ranked and still have a negative delta.

Curious SS, if the Gophs don't add another game, where would they fall in your rankings? Thanks

The Aggies check in with an initial ranking of #83. But look at that very strong "average NET rank of opponents". This is a good example of how to "game" the NET. ... stay away from the NET SOS killers (300+), and at the same time play a lot of decent but not great opponents.

I thought the bolded was an interesting comment. I agree it is a way to game your own NET ranking, but this kind of thing can backfire a little when you start looking at the quads.

The NCAA defines the quads:
1: 1-30 at home, 1-50 neutral, and 1-75 road
2: 31-75; 51-100; 76-135
3: 76-160; 101-200; 136-240
4: 161+; 201+; 241+ (I'm going to count non div-1 games as quad 4.)

USU's schedule is then 4 quad 2s, 3 quad 3s, and 3 quad 4s (their neutral games on 11/20-21 excluded). That's an average of 2.9, which isn't great.

So far, MN's schedule is 1 quad 2 (Mizzou), 2 quad 3s (neutral USF and home Ball State - barely), and 7 quad 4s. Average is 3.5. You can argue about whether that USF should be changed to a quad 2 because it's really an away game, but that would only make it 3.4.

Now, I should also say that a lot of these teams - especially mid-majors - will vary significantly from last year's rank. Ball State, for example had their best guys go portaling, so they are a candidate to drop into quad 4.

The Gaels check in with an initial ranking of #22. This is a really good non-Power 6 non-conference schedule.
