on the "extra practices" deal -

That was one of Sid's favorite points whenever a discussion about a bowl came up - how much the team would benefit from those extra practices.

but, I seem to remember hearing some coach say that they used the bulk of the extra practices to work with the younger players and back-ups - almost like a jump-start on next year's Spring practice.

the teams that will really need the extra practices are the ones losing a lot of players in the portal or opting out for the NFL. Or in the case of MN, getting Kramer as many reps as possible with the #1 unit on offense.
 



One reason I'm excited for this game is it's CRAB's last hurrah. I'm hoping he can haul in two touchdowns. He is at 14 right now, two more would put him at No. 7 with 16, behind Tutu Atwell with 17. Bell is No. 8 right now in receiving yards.

Creative Charters Day Trip $329 per person. Game tickets from $34 on Line.
Last time I went bought tickets outside for $8.00 Went and set on 50 yard line.

There was a baseball group visit to Comerica Park back in 2001 that I was a part of, and I have had some curiosity about Ford Field since then.. My plan was to hit the CMU game in 2015, but that did not happen (Claeys Team, Shannon Brooks played great)

For me at least, an excuse to visit an old, classic American city, get a coffee, walk around for a while and knock back a few beers is hard to pass up, and get back home on the pillow by 10PM.

Back before the 2004 Michigan game I stayed in downtown Detroit, and from what I can see the downtown core has seen many of the old buildings brought back to life. My plan is to walk around downtown for at least an hour before I go into see the pregame, or hit Buffalo Wild Wings where the Erban's CC group will be.

Went to the Michigan game in EDIT (I meant 2014!) as well and spent a couple nights in Detroit. Went to the Twins game the night before, had the best freaking shawarma wrap I’ve ever had in my life (to this day…including my trip to the Middle East), hit the casino, got offered weed at the bus stop (but the dudes were cool), went to Ann Arbor the next day, then home on Sunday. Awesome weekend and made me look forward to my next visit to Detroit — which has happened a couple times since.

According to some posters here, every big city is a flaming hellscape and you'll get shot at the second you enter the city limits.

I heard Bugtussle, GA has a low crime rate.

Also, Possum Corners, MS.

But... probably no bowl games being played in either of those. Rumor has it Bugtussle may be getting a stoplight, though... sigh... crime is sure to follow.

As opposed to living out in the sticks, where you're in serious danger of being bored to death.
 



only time I was ever in Detroit, I was riding with a buddy of mine who was a semi driver. He picked up a load at a liquor warehouse. My buddy talked one of the warehouse employees into slipping him a free bottle of scotch. as it happened, that was during the 1981 Stanley Cup finals between the North Stars and the Islanders. so we got a motel room and drank free scotch while watching the game on TV.

and that is my Detroit story.

Since I don't believe all major cities are shitholes, as you stated, I'm not afraid to say anything.

Yeah.

Places with dense, concentrated populations (more human beings present, and therefore more frequent person-to-person contact) have more chances for both favorable and unfavorable interactions.

A person who lives alone in the woods has very little chance of being mugged. Also, that person has very little chance of finding, say, a decent slice of pizza nearby. He also may have to drive miles to get to a doctor, dentist, grocery store etc.

It really isn't complicated.
