    National Attention

I live in the front range of CO (an area with a lot of transplants but not "Big Ten Country). I ran some errands tonight with my Gopher sweatshirt on and got numerous comments on "heard you guys took it to NE", "wow, nice win," "heard about the big W on the radio." This game got some attention...

    Hunter Jarmon

Seems he has an official visit set up. He has a pretty darn good offer list and seems to be blowing up some. Would be an excellent get. http://rivals.yahoo.com/minnesota/football/recruiting/player-Hunter-Jarmon-133967

    Combine Results

I DO NOT want to start a debate, but I thought it was interesting that Chandler Harnish from NIU ran a 4.76 at the combine. I thought he was a bit faster than that, but it ballparks what the ideal QB running Kill's offense has for legs (I think Kill really loved Harnish running that offense)...

    Interesting Recruiting Articles

Espn has a couple articles that are exposing recruiting a little bit more. One is a basketball article but I thought I would post in anyways because I thought they were interesting. Notice the Michigan mention in article 1...

    Purdue

Looks like Purdue is bringing it again today, and the Illini annual implosion is well on its way. I was reasonably certain that Illinois wasn't that good, but maybe Purdue is better than a lot of us give credit for. Although, the game is barely half over.

    Tommy Olson

I listened to the game on the radio yesterday so I can't really judge, but it seemed like whenever we did get positive rushing yards it was behind Tommy Olson and his brother. I know Eddie gets beat a lot on the outside on pass rush, so is it safe to say that Tommy Olson, a true freshman not...

    Bandwagon City

I was reading about the Lynx last night and how they had 15k plus for their game 1 of the WNBA Finals. If the Lynx can get 15k (and expecting more for game 2), even if it is the finals; there is no doubt in my mind that the gophers could expand to 80,000 and fill it consistently if they were...

    Rebuilding job

So we are obviously in a rebuilding job- that is an understatement. But why did Alvarez, Fry, Kill at (S. Ill) etc, have 1-11 teams in their first year. Its is due to the overall lack of talent and depth on the lines and overall lack of depth everywhere. You can't just pick up OL/DL and plug...

    Derrick Engel

Saw on the d2messageboard that Derrick Engel from Winona State is leaving there and walking on at the University of Minnesota. If I remember correctly, he was a pretty decent receiver in high school and they say he was the best receiver at WSU. Probably a decent depth filler.

    In the spirit of Christmas

I think an article like this should be shown on Christmas Day. I knew this kid when he lived in MN and it makes me very proud to see and read about how he has turned out. A real great read for anyone that wants a feel good story...

    Question

Statement As I read the threads today, it seems Coach Kill is gaining some momentum as fans lament his hiring a bit more. This is good. I have one question though. Coach Kill is a builder. We probably won't win a BT championship in year one. He will take some time to get a product and system...

    Player dev.

So Kill is our coach. I am not that upset about it. Could have been worse. So we have talent on our current team, but have sorely lacked coaching. It sounds like Kill has coached players up with half the talent of some of our guys. He could really make a difference in players like Carter, Gray...

    OMG

I can hardly believe it. The Gophers hired a coach with a track record of winning at 4 different schools at 3 different levels. He has not even spoke to the media yet and we are already incredibly upset by the hire. Give the guy a chance, he just might surprise some people. Also, saying he can't...

    This much we know

Today, every division 1 football coach in the state of Mississippi has been rumored to have visited, been offered, been thinking about visiting or possibly going to be named the U of Minnesota football coach. What are the odds that we actually get a coach whose last job was in Mississippi? Is...

    WR's

The next coach is going to have a fun group of receivers next year. McKnight is a player; an absolute player. He had some big time catches today. Allen, if properly utilized, has the potential to be an excellent slot. Lair has shown to be a good pass catching TE (if balls are actually catchable...

    Weber

Now this is not just another thread to bash Weber because I think we do have bigger problems than him. I do have a question about his leadership though. I have seen Weber out quite often in social situations and I have never seen him with a member of this football team. Also, it seems like when...

    Duane Bennett

I was at the game yesterday (in the student section) and I would just like to thank Duane Bennett for doing all that he could do to at the end of the game to try and win. That guy played as hard as he could, and I do not know if anyone else on the team can say that they have given their all for...

    Line-Up

I am a big fan of the Devoe, Hoff, Rodney, Carter, and Ralph line up that we are seeing a lot of this half. Also, Rodney is playing different today than he has in any other big ten games. Seems looser out there.

    At the game today

I am a long time lurker and 1st time poster. I was at the game today in the student section, as well as all but the Illinois game (had to work up north). I have a few thoughts on today's game. 1) The crowd was putrid, especially the students. 5000 students do not even show up and many of them...
