All Things Jashon Cornell Thread: Cornell commits to Ohio St

2nd coming of James Onwualu..
over-hyped in summer camps.. but when the pads go on, no impact ( except against cupcakes like Park).

Onwualu had offers coming out of his ears.. and dboy was told "so you know more than D1 recruiting coordinators? "

I guess I do... and Cornell will not be missed any more than James 'who'.

Cornell has too high a center of gravity.. teams will run right at him.. he's too 'thin legged' to play 'D' and honestly doesn't even look that athletic.. he's another summer camp flavor of the month.

What would possibly make you think you were right about James Onwualu?

I'm sure you don't realize this, but he started four games as a true freshman at Notre Dame. He was also on Notre Dame's punt coverage team, kickoff team and kick return team.

If you think his true freshman year was so awful at that it somehow proved you were right about James Onwualu, you're dumber than I thought. That's saying a lot because I've always known you were REALLY dumb.

Yeah. Not cool, unless he straight up said he wanted a change of scenery before it all started.

Yeah, you're kind of damned if you do, damned if you don't. Some guys get ripped for keeping MN in as lip service and some guys get ripped for dropping them out early. To be honest, as a Gopher fan, I don't know which I prefer.

It's a shame we didn't make his top 5 but only if we were REALLY in his top 5.

Don't feed the troll. dboy is not worth the effort to answer.

I have CDH Cretin fatigue. No longer care in the least where he goes, just want to beat them. That is getting ready to happen.

Any Minnesota kid even considering Iowa isn't worth my time. Cretins seem to love Iowa.

I don't have hard feelings about him not coming here, or even not having us on his final list. The only thing that doesn't make sense to me, is why Iowa? It doesn't seem like Iowa has any advantages over the other programs he is considering. Why would they make the final 5 and not the school right down the street that just had a DL drafted in the 2nd round? My only guess is Broderick Binns.

Also, the only way they could "shock the [recruiting] world" would be if they both committed to a program that wasn't on their list. None of those programs would be a shock, outside of Iowa (mild shock).

Bob, this is quite an 'impact':

"caught two passes for 34 yards ... also made six tackles on special teams, all solo ... had a 23-yard catch against the Panthers and an 11-yard catch against the Cardinal ... recorded single tackles in six different contests"

with such a washout true freshman year, he's already on the conveyor belt out the door..

and to think you were so impressed that he could jump out of waist-deep pool!!.. and dboy wondered how that would translate on the field.. but it must have meant something to those D1 coordinators!

26 TFLs, 14 sacks as a sophomore is much more than no impact. Also being a 6-3, 260-270 pound DE would hamper you're performance in a camp type setting and improve it once the pads go on as opposed to a 6-6, 230 pound DE. Not the other way around.

"26 TFLs, 14 sacks as a sophomore". Stop buying into the CDH hype machine!!

no way is he 270 if he is 6'3"..
he is all legs.. and skinny legs..
he will switch to LB in college and play at 230.. on special teams..
no big loss.

So what are you saying? He did not have those numbers or 26 TFLs and 14 sacks as a sophomore are meh numbers?

He put on 20-30 pounds after his junior season to get to 270. Now he is down to 255.

dboy, what is you're opinion of Jeff Jones. I'm curious.

i already stated that i was alarmed that he was not stronger on his feet at that all star game.. he was picked up and tossed several times.. not good for a power back.. so i was told he was NOT a power back... so i stated he didn't have a 'next gear' of a speed back... so i was told he was NOT a speed back..

then the fur flew.

That didn't stop him from earning co MVP honors and where in the video did he get "picked up and tossed several times"

Fixed it for you.

:05, :13.. etc. picked up.. thrown..
dboy also said JJ's running style is like Hershel Walker... choppy steps.. indecisive. no power at point of contact.. ( things that dboy said could be corrected.. )
so several GHers told dboy 'so you are saying Hershel Walker was a bad runner'.
so dboy gave up..

Except qt 0:13 he gained an extra yard at first contact and fell forward. I hope Cobb get "picked up and thrown" on every rush this season if that is the case. He never lost yards in that video plus 0:43 he trucked the corner and at 0:54 it took 3 guys to get him out of bounds and he still managed to gain a yard.

At least two yards after first contact at 0:13 (earlier but dbag can't even read numbers). 4+ yards on the first carry after first contact.

Seriously, dbag, you need to troll harder. Stop throwing softballs in there.

Go Gophers!!

Is he really anticipating anyone in the TC community is really going to want to attend this? I would assume all his friends would know this already.

Always slightly awkward when the local kid holds the big debutante ball and doesn't choose the local school. I remember when Harrison Barnes filled up the Ames gymnasium and then announced he was going to North Carolina. Barnes grinned and looked around for the wild applause. The kids cheered, but everyone else was like: "Um...what? I came here for this?"

Thats because whenever kids hold a big announcement at his school it is for the kids at the school and the ones close to him to attend. Why does everybody think it is always for random fans that he doesn't even know to attend? When are you guys going to get this threw you're head?

Go Gophers!![/QUO Does he really think if he is not going to play for the Gophers anyone other than family and a few friends gives a rat's behind about his decision?

My guess is there will still be quite a few people there. Shocking, a lot of people at his school or in his community might care more about the human being making the decision.

"In a surprise move, Cornell announced he will be attending Century College to pursue his childhood dream of becoming a dental hygienist."

"In a surprise move, Cornell announced he will be attending Century College to pursue his childhood dream of becoming a dental hygienist."

That got me chuckling.

It's a big deal regardless of where he goes. It's a generational thing and I'm a crabby old guy who doesn't quite understand all the "look at me" stuff that goes on these days, but I'm sure it's a big day for him, his family, and his friends and as such, I don't have a problem with all the hoopla. Good luck to him wherever he goes. I have confidence in Kill to get the job done over the long haul and the longer he's here, the more I think he'll shut down the borders.
