Why doesn't Chip get any minutes??

You are right. Only details is that Chip is better at driving the basket and Joseph was well-loved here until he quit on his teammates.

Yes, there are some positive comments in the threads, in fact, I'll even post one of them that proves my point.

The amount of Joseph hate on this board is absolutely alarming. It really makes me question how much alot of fans really know about basketball.

What is this board's problem with guys that can create their own shot? Someone has to do it, and he did it damn well tonight.

so its not just me?

Don't get me wrong, I like Chip. He has a great attitude and is a great spark. But, he is no where near better than Austin Hollins (Hollins can dribble, drive, finish, play defense) or even Rodney (Rodney can rebound, play lock-down defense, and provide a spark) Chip can drive left handed (i have no clue how teams don't realize, he is left handed) and can occasionally finish. He seems to be a very hard worker though and I expect him to be big as a Jr and Sr.

Devoe was hated and Westbrook was hated, Nolen has been hated ... now everyone would kill to have them back.

Me too. Just wanted to see a little more flexibility in his thinking and management this year.

The one thing about Tubby is he has been a winner and he's a good man. I expect he relooks his roster and his coaching a bit in the off season and we may be in for a pleasant surprise next year. For now I'm going with that until I get ticked off again- probably sometime Sunday afternoon. ;)

The thing I get about Tubby, is that he truly values experience above all. He looks to his older players to lead his teams, to ride them through issues. With that, thought, comes the responsibility factor, meaning you'll get a lot of heat if you don't step up and you make mistakes out there, because he expects more from you because you're not a freshman anymore. Blake is catching heat for his mistakes because he's a senior. Rodney is catching heat as a soph, but he is being called upon to be a leader for this team, especially due to the circumstances. But even with that, you're gonna play anyway. He's gonna play them, and sink or swim, he's gonna leave them out there to either drown, or rise up. This year, they drowned after one of the leaders he was relying on went down.

Next year, he's gonna demand leadership from guys like Colt, Ralph, Trevor (if he stays) and Rodney, as well as a guy like Austin Hollins. He's gonna ride them hard, and it's up to them to make it happen. Don't expect him to put it on the younger Hollins' shoulders to lead this team, that's not his style and I don't think that's gonna change.

With almost 1,000 posts, you know how message boards work. When a team looks bad, or worse -- loses -- fans are emotional and type negative things. Every player on every team in the country takes their licks on a message board eventually. And even if a few people really didn't like those guys, it was a very few. To say everybody or a majority or even a lot of people hated Nolen and Joseph is beyond ridiculous. (Westbrook? Tougher to argue. But not because of a lack of talent.)

More to the point, nobody is saying Armellin is better than those players. But he offers a dimension that nobody else on this team has right now, one that is one of our team's most glaring weaknesses. The fact that he doesn't get more time on a sinking ship like this is simply baffling.

I definitely agree on all counts. However, something that seems to be a quality of MN is that we don't like the ego, big shot, self entitled player. Kentucky loved Demarcus Cousins, they loved John Wall and Bledsoe. MN loved Dusty Rychart, Travis Busch, and the underdog stories. Maybe it is a midwest thing, i don't know, but I feel like that is part of the reason a guy like Devoe is allowed to be criticized where as Blake is untouchable to many.

Lastly, I think Tubby legitimate still thought (thinks?( this team had a chance. and isn't ready to go into "next year" mode. Tubby is a defensive coach, he isn't Mike Leach or Coach Cal. And as much fun as offense is for fans and even players, teams win with defense. Period. Offense comes and goes (ask Bo how often they are "just not hitting shots") while defense is an attitude. Plain and simple. And can win you every game you play in.
