The downside to a 4 out 1 in offense is a shortage of offensive rebounding. Minnesota tends to watch the ball rather than crash the board.

Agreed. Basically reconstruct the knee and ask it to take a beating. That will take a long time to rehab in order to get to an elite D1 level.
