Great atmosphere at the barn tonight.

I think Kill has a good shot at landing this guy.

STrib: Gophers football team already chasing 2015 recruiting class

Last fall, the Gophers beat Nebraska and Penn State among others, which might have swung some late recruiting commitments this year. But Lemming said the real boost should come in 2015 because those marquee wins came after most 2014 recruits had narrowed their lists.

“I think Jerry Kill’s got them where they’re going to be very good this year, and I think in the next couple years, they’re going to be outstanding,” Lemming said. “He’s recruiting players that fit his system, and more importantly, he’s recruiting athletes.”

Go Gophers!!

With an offer list like his, he ain't coming here. He's a Cali kid and has offers from both USC and Stanford.

Yeah Coach- quit offering kids like this- he is too good. We know better than you, don't take a chance on him, concentrate on kids with fewer offers and less talent. THOSE guys we may have a chance on.

And if you don't get it- this is sarcasm.

I have no problem offering him, I just wouldn't get my hopes up. We'll have to do some more winning before we get kids like him.

Recruiting is sales, you never have a chance of getting a yes, unless you offer, sure there will be nos but there will be some unexpected yeses. The real trick is being able to recognize when your wasting your time early in the process. From what I've seen the staff is good at doing that. Offer a kid, get a feel for what they are looking for, if you have a shot ,start building a relationship.

He may not be, but I agree with kandj. I love that this staff is going out and at least trying to sell the top drawer kids on the program. You may be right. It may take awhile. But I'd rather have this approach than the defeatist approach that has been the modus operandi far too often over the past few decades.

Kill's recruiting has gotten steadily better and the guy (and the rest of the staff) works extremely hard at it. The jury is still out because he hasn't had a full five-year cycle, but recruiting was my biggest fear when Kill was hired but I am worrying about it less as time goes on.

I'd have offered him even if he had just a half of a star just because his name is that awesome.

Looks like he has bad form on those weight lifting curls. I dont think he has it in him.

I noticed Iowa, Illinois, and Wisconsin already have verbals from a QB. I'm sure the gophers will take at least one in this class, pretty standard. Anyone have any insight on who they are giving a strong look at? Haven't noticed any offers extended to any yet. I assume Schlichte will get an offer, he isn't particularly big or fast, but has a pretty good arm. I think his athleticism is adequate for Kill's offense. Tyree Jackson and Brett Gasiorowski are a couple unrated guys that I thought looked good, and didn't have any offers, and were on the gopher's radar according to Rivals. Tyree Jackson, Brett Gasiorowski, and Ryan Schlichte videos below.

Ryan Boyle visited Minnesota this past season and was at Junior Day on Sunday. Not sure if he'll get offered or not but I'm assuming he's in the mix as well.

Who is Garret Malstom and what position does he play

Frazee MN, where is that, I think I have heard the name before as it relates to wrestling and the State wrestling tournament. Who has stats, and what kind of competition does Malstrom play against? Good conference, anyone pass the ball?
Has he been to a Gopher camp or will he be attending the Gophers camp this summer. Have no information but I like the fact that he looks like a wrestler from the twitter picture and that he has decent height. Anyone outside the metro guys or commentators have any skinny if this kid can play? Has VAMES seen this guy play?

Right outside Detroit Lakes.

Frazee plays in two conferences. The Heart O' Lakes for everything but football and the North Star for football. The other teams in the North Star conference are: Bagley, Blackduck, Cass Lake-Bena, Fertile-Beltrami, Fosston, Lake Park-Audubon, Mahnomen, Pillager, Pine River-Backus, Red Lake County, Walker-Hackensack-Akeley, and Warren-Alvarado-Oslo.

Agree with you Jaymil. Boyle was the Gatorade Player of the Year in Iowa this year. Boyle was excited about the U after Junior Day and said the coaches told the QB's that they'd evaluate and take one QB in the class. Boyle said he hoped he'd get the offer and was excited about his discussion with the coaches about being a Jordan Lynch-type QB... sounded like he'd jump on the scholarship if offered.

Can't help but think of Manziel when I watch his hudl tape. His size and speed are question marks. Seems more quick than fast.

Having played in the conference I will say there are a whole lot of run based teams and not many if any teams who want to throw the ball more than 5-10 times a game or unless they absolutely have to.
