My Nomination for End of 3rd Quarter Song

C'mon guys...Twist and Shout?
Keep an open mind, especially when it comes to that crazy music they call hip hop. I know its not Guns and Roses or the Rolling Stones, but its pretty popular.
Secondly, what you want the U to do is pretty much copy what Wisconsin does at the end of the Third.
Thirdly, I think what the U is going to do is put up new songs every week and have people text in their favorite for the week. Now I might be wrong, but that's what it seemed to me.

Please...no Bon Jovi. I'd be fine with just about anything else. Bon Jovi ruins everything.

Any Hip-hop/rap song is immediatley disqualified.

Because it's all garbage.

I've got a great idea for the song at the end of the 3rd quarter, it's called "no f'ing way are we going to copy anything Wisconsin does, so let's not play a song at the end of the 3rd quarter". I think it would really pump people up.

Why not just play the alma mater? That's what a lot of schools do. When Florida does that at the Swamp and everyone starts swaying it's pretty cool even if it's a little wierd at the same time. Actually the song they sing isn't techincially thier alma mater, but it's kind if the de-facto one I think.

I'm probably in the minority here, but I'd laugh uncontrollably if the 3rd quarter ended on Oct. 3 and the P.A. system started playing Jump Around. Just think how far that would stick under Bucky's skin.

1. Caddyshack Theme - I'm Alright with the Gopher dancing
2. Jungle Love - by Morris Day and The "Motha F*ckin" Time
3. Shout - Otis Day and the Knights (Animal House)
4. Apache - Sugarhill Gang

Whatever they decide to do I hope it doesn't tank as bad at the Black Eyed Peas song did last week. That was brutal, and I even kind of dig that song a little.

I'm totally fine with Tonto "jump on it"

The student's have already been doing that, or Apache by Sugarhill gang somethng they seem to like and it should be up to them to decide really. If they want to go with something else I'm not opposed to it. I wouldn't be against Let's Go Crazy by Prince for the provincialism or even "Shout" by Morris Day and the knights because of the Minnesota root's but it really should be up to the students in the end. I would like Home sweet home but I'm a rube that way.

I have a fealing that this spot was sold by marketing or Learfield as some advertisment space and they are going to be doing the text in every week thing to play this A song or B and C. If this is the case and the volume level continues to be subdued it will be very underwhelming every week.

We want to be different, Right?

How about Con Te Partiro translated as "Time to say goodbye"

Of course this first one is slow, but would be unique. Too unique in my mind even. So, how about a club-type version of the same song. I love the emotion and flow, with a good beat and everyone clapping rythmically it could be sweet. I know, it's a huge stretch, but this is all about ideas, right?

Andrea Bocelli- Con te Partiro

Here's one option, not enough Andrea Bocelli.

Okay, struggling to find a mix I like, nut you see where I'm going with this. Something calssical with a beat.

AC/DC....

"You Shook Me All Night Long" would be great.

Jungle Love by Morris Day & the Time was my original pick and I'm sticking with it.

Upper Mississippi Shakedown

By The Lamont Cranston Band

How about something from Yanni? He's a U grad!

The Mary Tyler Moore theme song? nm

nm

Here are some suggestions

1. We Will Rock You - Queen
2. Sweater Song- Weezer

"Unchained" by Van Halen.

Or, you know, something by Rush ;)

How about some polka? Maybe something by Whoopee John or some other member of the Minnesota Music Hall of Fame? I bet nobody else does that and we'd be honoring our own. Let's take music back from the kids!
