Gopher Potential Portal Pursuits

I highly doubt that. Why would Patterson wait for Christie? Either Ben wants him or doesn’t. Unless Patterson doesn’t want to compete with him for PT.
Christie is not coming back. And Patterson wouldn't lose much/any playing time to him anyway. Perhaps he found more $$ and/or a better coach to play for.

You are not wrong, but we all know how much commitments are worth right now, especially in college basketball. Hopefully all the guys who have committed actually end up on the final roster.
Portal has closed, and those guys have signed/U has issued press releases. Thankfully

Was the portal closed last year when Dennis Evans reneged on his Gopher committment and then committed to Lousville?
That wasn't a portal thing, he was in high school at the time and asked out of his letter of intent.

It would be inSane24 if Ben promised Williams playing time. I'm trying to give him some credit.
If he promises Williams "a chance to compete for playing time", THAT poses a THREAT of LOSS of playing time to everyone else playing backcourt.
ALSO, we have no idea how much CBJ really assesses Caleb Williams skills.
CBJ's opinion of Caleb Williams is unknown to us and may be 100% different than any of our's.

In your world Jackson Purcell would also threaten the guards for a loss of playing time. Maybe he is CBJ's secret weapon this season? Unless Ben told Jackson he could not compete for playing time, but that would be weird considering he earned the final scholarship last season.

Isn't every recruit promised a chance to compete for playing time? If he promised a DIII player a starting spot or a set role, then we have bigger problems.
YES, they are all promised a chance to compete and all such promises are a threat to other players' PT.
Christie' return is a threat to other players' PT.
If Christie is gone on May29, his threat to other players' PT is over.
None of the posters KNOW how that will turn out, despite the posters being certain of everything they don't know. It is some kind of poster's disease.

The ink from Evans pen wasn’t even dry yet and never even had to unpack his bags and he headed straight to Louisville. I don’t think anything is in stone anymore.

Purcell's threat for PT is tiny.
Christie's threat is BIG!
BOTH THREATS ARE THREATS!

Christie is not coming back. If we are missing out on anyone because of that, there's poor recruiting/communication going on.

Only if he gets hurt. Then we'll hear how vital he was. Like Ihnen.

Evans was released from his scholarship. At that moment he had no college.

Transfers don't sign anything. It is official when they enroll in school. Commitments are merely verbal indications of plans.

Sure, all good coaches decide their starting lineups for the next season in early May.

Just like Ben probably promised Fox he would take over for JOJ by start of conference season and didn't earn it in practice.

If a player blossoms in practice and earns playing time, that is not a threat. That is a bonus.

It is a threat of decreased playing time to somebody.
In each game there are 200 minutes of playing time.
Each player could use up to a maximum of 40 minutes or down to a minimum of zero minutes.
Any time given to a player is subtracted from another player.
Only overtime can change that equation.

How do the blue bloods do it.. I mean every player they bring in is a threat to take playing time....

Athletes thrive on competition, they don’t shrivel from it.

Is you first name ED, per chance?

Holdup.....Howeda7 doesn't like CBJ? He hides it really well, not sure how you figured that one out.... :)
From howeda’s perspective he doesn’t like losing basket. From your guys perspective he doesn’t like Ben. Unfortunately they are currently one and the same so there is no way to know which it is.

Wow, you figured all that out?

Basketball is a team game. Successful teams play together and support each other. Good athletes welcome competition that will ultimately help the team.
