The Wisconsin football team, under Jim Leonhard as the defensive coordinator, boasted some of the best defenses in the country in recent years.

In five years of Leonhard leading the defense before 2023 when he became the interim coach, the Badgers ranked in the top 10 in scoring defense four times. From 2018-22 they allowed just 17.3 points per game, third in the country.

Leonhard, however, is no longer with the program after he was passed over for the team's head coaching job.
