I don't follow hoops much but why would TT be hated? Always struck me as a decent guy.

I dunno to be honest. Just heard some people grumble about him. I have met him numerous times and he has always been super genuine and awesome. Does much behind the scenes for the U and local charities. Great man and great ambassador, imo.

I think some people disliked him as a T-Wolves announcer. I don't think anyone hates him as a person, gopher, or pro. He's an active philanthropist and a fantastic alumni for the Gophers.

I really hope you are right. I just don't see him staying here. I've been burned before, so I am bitter:(

Me too my friend. I just know his family is very important to him and I don't know if they would be able to watch him if he choose a school like Florida.

I would also think that seeing a city kid like Hageman flourish and potentially become a top pick will help us.

this is going to get very very interesting...

Now some of you may understand why some of us were not all that excited to see Jones tear it up in Florida this week. We may very well have lost him now that the secret is out...

that will make it that much better when we beat those schools out

Michigan does not have an RB commit for their 2014 class, next year they have three guys Rawls who will be a senior and was a 3 star, Derrick Green who was a freshman this year and the #1 running back in the nation and Deveon Smith who was a freshman this year and was a 4 star, and they will run the ball a lot more then Florida with a better offensive line and are closer to home then UF but once again going to be hard to build a relationship in a few days

I'm pretty sure Tyus had as many options as he wanted as a 9th grader. Not an apples to apples comparison at all.

jeff was a Jarvis/illikainen/Ellenson caliber recruit, now he is getting on Reid's level, still no comparison to Tyus, Jashon is though, arguably better

I have to imagine Michigan getting the #1 RB in the country last year could help us somewhat. Well, actually it already did help us with Berkley. Would be great it if it helped us again! Haha

rivals 4 star and Cal commit RB commit Vic Enwere took an official to Michigan in December and 94% on 247 CB have him flipping to Michigan, keep an eye on him, he also had in in home visit with a coach recenntly so it looks like they are putting the full court press on him, at least before they offered jeff

Like I said before, it's a wonder that more programs didn't already offer. Obviously he played against weak competition and there are/were some eligibility concerns, but it's not like that has stopped the helmet schools from offering before.

If we want to eventually become big ten title contenders we're going to have to beat out the helmet schools for recruits every once in a while. The Eric Murray's of the world are great and you can field a competitive team with low-rated recruiting classes as long as you develop players and they fit your system, but to take that next step you need to supplement these classes with a few impact guys with elite talent. There's no better time than now to keep players like Ragnow and Jones home. It's time for the coaching staff to put up or shut up and flex their recruiting muscles.

While the Florida and Michigan offers are worrisome, neither one of these teams have developed a relationship with Jones or his family for a few years like the Gophers staff. I'm confident these teams are too late. Not to mention, both teams had disappointing seasons leading to both coaches being on the hot seat (Muschamp moreso than Hoke), and both have highly rated freshman RB's almost guaranteed to get carries next year. Jones wanted more exposure and wanted to take a few visits, he has the opportunity now. In the end, I still think he ends up a Gopher and realizes the advantages to staying home and playing for the U are too good to pass up.

And for the record, I'm sick of the Minnesota sports fan defeatist attitude already showing up on message boards and twitter. The fans are part of the problem as to why talented in-state players go elsewhere if better offers are on the table.

I felt the same way until Reid Travis broke our hearts. It is going to take me a while to get over that one and once again feel confident about landing any big time recruit.

Stanford. we aren't beating out stanford in 2013.

Hang on- you really believe that fans' inferiority complex is a reason that top recruits in FB and BB go elsewhere? Might be giving us fans a bit too much credit with respect to our influence on decisions of 17 and 18-year old kids.

The whiny, woe-is-me attitude is tiresome. I don't think the attitude of the fans is a huge deciding factor, but I would not rule out the idea that recruits read this board, either.

These kids are on twitter daily and twitter makes it easy to read what fans are saying about you. I've already read multiple tweets from gopher fans saying Jones is gone. If you were 17 or 18 and were thinking about playing for the hometown school, and a lot of fans for that school didn't expect you to stay, don't you think that'd influence your decision at all? It may not make a big impact but it's still a problem that is pretty frustrating.

Read - sure. Say things like, "I was liking MN, but that Spoofin dude thinks better players go elsewhere so I better do that" - no f'ing way. Ridiculous.

BTW - I don't feel that way, just didn't want to start a personal battle. I wanted to be clear on that in case it influences Jones or Ragnow.

Agree with most of your posts. You are off on this. Why would Jeff care what some rubes think about where he is going? Couldn't I make a similar argument that it will inspire him to "show us.".

They never offered Berkley. I'm not worried about Michigan or Florida.

If these kids make their decisions based on what some anonymous goon posts on a message board or twitter, it's amazing the Gophers ever get a recruit with the BS the local media writes.

Actually one 5 star, one 4 star, one 3 star and one former walkon who was awarded scholarship, at least per rivals

3 four stars. I didn't post the 3 stars, but they have more than one. I'd be shocked if he goes to Florida.

Maybe Jeff feels he is better than all of them and will play anyway.
