All Things Gopher Baseball

Looking forward to the season. CSU-Bakersfield wasn't very good last year. Really hoping the boys come ready to play and open the 2024 campaign with a win. Bakersfield is also looking at Minnesota and thinking this is their best shot of the weekend to get a win so the team better bring it.

Bats started out hot and then got ice cold. Gophers gave up 2 runs in 9th and 10th when they could have put the game away. Glad to escape with a win.
Wild game. Twice it felt like we were in position to win, then right on the edge of defeat. Gross was great. Liked the 2.1 relief innings from Remington, too. We got assistance in the number of free passes, but can't complain with 1-0.

It was a crazy game. Certainly would have been nice to win the game earlier, but it is a win. The number of strikeouts is a bit alarming, top of the order stuck out a lot.

Yeah 19k as a team thru 12 innings. Top 5 went 6-28 with 13k....gotta get better. Heck of a night for Hockenson though.

Our at bats sucked most of the night, a lot of non-competitive PAs and non execution situationally up and down the lineup. Couple questionable calls led to some walks late in the game for Bakersfield. The triple to tie it seemed like a really bad missed location as Clausen had that hitter all tied up earlier in the AB.

Lot of opportunities but couldn't come through. Pitchers were very solid today for Minnesota.

Good morning from.......SURPRISE!
Team looks pretty darn good. Some exceptional fielding and pretty darn good pitching.

Oregon State. hits the ball over 400 fences. And ours hit the wall. Cool stadium and 75 degree.

We are set for a nice season folks.

2 games against OSU will tell us a lot about our team.

Nice to hear. Win today and give OSU another good game tomorrow.

Dominating 11-2 win over the Lobos. Credit the boys for beating the two teams at their level this weekend. Would be sweet to sneak one from Oregon State tomorrow.

Gross it is!
We have lots of pitching left and the team looks good.
Need a few breaks today but young guys are playing well.

Great to see Anderson going to some of his freshmen early - Sutherland and Spanier with early starts; Hemmesch and Remington with some early innings.

I see game on Flosports. Is that a tournament site or will Gophers games stream there all year

Loooking at the schedule it might be a lot of live stats following through the rest of the non-con, not many games currently scheduled to be streamed.

Around the horn in the Big Ten....conference fared pretty well.

Rutgers 3-0 Swept Winthrop...up next is Old Dominion

Penn State 3-1 Played two apiece against Army & Monmouth...up next is Stanford

Purdue 3-1 Four game series vs Stony Brook....up next George Mason

Iowa 2-1 Defeated Seton Hall, Ball State but lost to Lehigh. Up next is Jax College Baseball Classic, tough 3 game slate against Auburn, Virginia, Wichita State

Indiana 2-1 Split with Duke and Coastal, both t25 programs. Up next is Baylor.

Ohio State 2-1 Lost to BC but defeated BYU and USC. Next up, Arizona State

Maryland 2-1 Played Georgia Southern. Up next is Kleberg Bank Classic (Corpus-Christie, Pitt, Washington)

Minnesota 2-2 If you're reading this....you know our results. Next up, Northeastern

Illinois 2-2 Split with Akron (ish) but hung tight with #1 Wake Forest. Up next is Coastal Carolina Tournament (Ball State, Coastal Carolina, Cincinnati)

Michigan 2-2 Split with Western Michigan. Has to be disappointed with that. Next up is tough Kubota College Baseball Series (Okie State, Oregon State, Arkansas)

Nebraska 1-2 Beat Baylor but lost to Tx Tech and Okla, two very tough teams. Up next is Grand Canyon. Very tough schedule!

Northwestern 1-2 Played Tulane. Up next is Duke....yikes. I don't think NW is good at all

Michigan State 1-3 Beat Merrimack but lost to Seton Hall, Lehigh and Ball State. Up next is Snowbird Classic (Indiana State and Marshall x2)

Brody Brecht with 11k’s and 6 bb’s in his first start over 4.1 innings.

Only a slight chance he’d be there when the Twins pick and their front office has an aversion to college arms early, but he’s one I’d consider making an exception for.

The Gonzaga site shows all 3 games to be on ESPN+. Also, San Francisco had all of their opening weekend games on ESPN+ and all of this weekend's home series are also on ESPN+, so optimistic the Gopher series will be on ESPN+. Elon series should be on FloSports.

Two weeks out, Pacific has also had their games broadcast on ESPN+ so far, so hopeful the Monday game will be on that. Not sure why only the Saturday game (and not the Sunday game) in Sacramento is on ESPN+ when they seem to have/be televising all of their other games.

Not looking promising for the next three neutral site games.

Another missed opportunity like that first Oregon State game that could have been nice on the resume. Northeastern was 23 in the preseason but struggled at Arizona last weekend and I think they will be towards the top of their conference but if we want to be a NCAA tournament team theses are the types of games you need to finish, just like Oregon State last Saturday where we left 20 on base. Northeastern seemed like they did a nice job extending ABs but you cant give in and give up 9 walks. That 5th inning was the gamechanger where you are in complete control and a 2 out double comes then you walk 2 in a row and throw a grounder away and suddenly it is tied.

Gophers drop the second game 6-2 today. Northeastern scored 5 in the 6th off Gross in relief and Gophers only had 3 hits until the bottom of 9th when they scored their two runs.

A dreadful Sunday capped off a lousy weekend for the conference, as four other teams besides the Gophers went winless. Iowa lost all 3 games at the Jax Classic, Michigan likewise at the Kubota Series in Arlington, Illinois winless at a tournament at Coastal Carolina, and Northwestern swept at Duke.

Indiana sweeping Baylor in Waco and going 4-0 on the week was among the highlights.

Originally, only the Saturday name with Sacramento State was listed as on ESPN+. About a week ago when the ESPN+ schedule was updated (which seems to be about 7-10 days out), both games with Sacramento State had been listed on the ESPN+ schedule and also shown as such on both school's websites.

However, today it now shows neither game will be televised and only available on WAC Digital Network, which the website says is only available outside the United States.

So, it appears the only game available this weekend for viewing is the Monday game vs. Pacific (ESPN+). Bummer.

Quick update: it sounds as if the Sacramento State games will be unlocked and available within the United States on the WAC Digital Network.

I think I found a stream of the games. Go to sacramento state’s baseball schedule and find todays game, should be able to click watch live. Then you need to make an account it seems and then should be able to live stream
