Evan Daniels: 2022 Intro: Camden Heide emerges as high major prospect
One of the breakout underclassmen prospects of the first evaluation was 2022 guard Camden Heide. Playing in the 16’s division for D1 Minnesota, Heide looked like a future high major college basketball player.
“It’s been great,” Heide said of the spring. “I love playing up because it gets me like more ready and stuff and I love playing up against better competition.”
During the spring Evaluation Period, Heide told 247Sports that he’d yet to pick up a scholarship offer, but that changed quickly.
“Last week Wisconsin offered me on Tuesday, and Minnesota offered me on Thursday,” Heide said.
To go with those offers, Purdue dropped by to watch him workout recently. He also cited interest from Iowa, Iowa State and Nebraska.
“It’s going pretty good,” Heide said about the process. “I haven’t really worried about it much because I’m still so young so I got to enjoy it but still keep working.”
On the court, Heide impressed with his skill set and potential as a scorer. Heide is a confident shooter with range, but also capable of getting to mid-range and pull-up. He was aggressive in our viewing, but picked his spots and made the right play.
