2023-2024 Gophers Basketball Schedule Thread

Rocco Miller is now reporting Gophers are not slated to play Ball State as part of their MTE, but instead will play Arkansas-Pine Bluff. So for now it appears what was previoulsy the "second best" opponent on the Gophers' non-conference slate (Ball State), is now gone.

I'm still thinking there will be a Power 6 and/or top-100ish opponent added at some point.

At this point, Johnson should try to back out of the San Fran game - it clearly is a motif ruiner...

Edit to add: Without San Fran, the average is 318...that's hard to do

Bethune-Cookman - remarkably, there were 3 teams worse than them in the SWAC (who had 8 teams in the 300s)

UTSA - last in CUSA

USC-Upstate - one of the better teams on the slate with an actual winning record in the Big South (won by UNC Asheville over Longwood and Radford)

UAPB - also from the SWAC finishing just above Bethune-Cookman

USF - far and away the best noncon on the schedule - still only 5th best in their conf (WCC)

UNO - from the Southland where 6 of the 10 schools are in the 300s - managed to go 7-11

IUPUI - tied UWGB at 2-18 in the Horizon

Maine - weren't quite as bad as New Jersey Institute of Technology or SUNY-Albany in America East. There's still time to add them, too.

The Gophers haven't gotten anyone from the worst conference yet - the Northeast Conference. Probably scared because their NCAA entrant - FDU - knocked off Edey and the Boilers. LIU-Brooklyn fits the profile of the Gopher scheduling target, though...1-17 in the worst conference is Johnson's kind of opponent

We both know there was already a press conference a few weeks ago and it didn't come up. Maybe the press has figured that the majority of readers/viewers/listeners aren't paying that close of attention (perhaps including the beat writers, too). Still, I'd think trying to drum up a little drama would be good for their numbers.
 

I keep wait for the IU loving barreiro to go after the goph bball team but into year three and Danny stays quiet. Proving Coyle is a genius
 

The women are playing UConn and Kentucky non-conference. Will the men play a single power 6 team?
