2014 Minnesota Commits - Josh Martin & Nate Mason (youtube 12-17-13)

Agreed combo forward is a positive word while tweener is usually used when a player has a pf game with sf size. Or you could say Martin has good power forward size and he also has some sf perimeter skills.

KISS method...just call him a combo forward. Then again, that might be too easy?

Martin returns against Roosevelt as Bothell loses
Josh Martin returned to the court Tuesday, one day after suffering an ankle injury during a loss to Federal Way. Martin had no lingering issues, scoring 30 points for the Bothell High School boys basketball team in a loss to Roosevelt, 71-62.

The Roughriders came out strong during the first quarter, outscoring the Cougars 23-8. Bothell came right back during the second quarter, cutting the lead down to 11 points by halftime. The Cougars continued to claw their way back but could never full regain control as the Roughriders kept pace with the home team.

Bothe Ross Bowers and Peyton Cordova-Smith finished the contest with nine points for Bothell.

Top ranked Garfield hits century mark against Bothell
The Garfield High School basketball team showed why they are the top ranked team in the state, scoring early and often during its game against Bothell. The Cougars could not keep up as the Bulldogs won the game 103-71 in Seattle.

Bothell looked like it would keep pace with Garfield during the first half, trailing just 49-43 at halftime. But the Cougar offense went cold during the third quarter, scoring just 11 points. The fourth quarter was all Garfield, as they team scored 30 points.

Bothell was led by Josh Kollman with 20 points, while Ross Bowers had 15 and Josh Martin scored 13.

I'm very, very excited the more I hear about Martin's game. Morris and Mason don't sound like they're really lighting the world on fire, but I've heard enough from people I trust that say Mason is legit, and Morris was highly recruited coming out of high school, so I'm not worried. But Martin's the one I really can't wait to see in maroon and gold.

For me I am hoping Morris, Mason and a fourth recruit can replace Austin and Smith while Martin seems to be something we don't have right now...

Bothell beats Redmond with huge fourth quarter

The Bothelll High School boys basketball team entered the fourth quarter against Redmond down by five points after a dismal first quarter. But the team more than doubled the Mustangs point total during the final eight minutes to complete the comeback 65-58 behind a strong performance from center Josh Martin.

Redmond began the game on fire, going on a 22-8 first-quarter run and looking like they would run the Cougars out of the gym.

But the Bothell players regained their composure and began chipping away at the lead by two points during the second quarter and six during the third. But it was a 25-22 fourth-quarter advantage that pushed the Cougars to the win.

Martin finished the game with 36 points and Andrew Wilson had 10 points.

Is it pretty certain that this class will have four players? Not sure how this stuff works. I'm just a caveman lawyer.

Stop it Morris, you're not that good on a good team....

What do you think is more impressive? His 6 turnovers last game, his 12% three point shooting in seven conference games, or overall 31% shooting in conference games?

What do you think is more impressive? His 6 turnovers last game, his 12% three point shooting in seven conference games, or overall 31% shooting n conference games?

Well... he should be able to replace Austin as a 3 point shooter in conference (please turn it around tonight Austin).

His numbers are surely more impressive than your analysis of Morris using a 7 game sample size.

I used conference games, which I clearly stated, because he plays in the best JUCO conference in America. Last year in conference he shot 25% from three and 36% overall. Feel free to use any sample size you choose. You can't make his numbers look impressive regardless.

You relentlessly bringing Morris down is getting really old. Every single poster on this board knows your stance with him. Maybe it's time to let it go.

Pitino wanted him and signed him. Deal with it.

Morris might not be killing it at Chipola, but all he has to do is replace Austin Hollins. I love Austin as a student athlete, but he scores single digits more often than not in the BIG and he can't create.

The Austin bashing is more annoying than the Morris bashing...

But he is also our best defender and does a ton of small things to help the team. He will be very hard to replace despite his offensive woes lately

Offensive woes lately? Try single digits in 37 of 67 BIG games. And the "little things that help the team win" comment works for big men and point guards, not your shooting guard.

I am not trying to blame the teams woes of late on Austin. I personally believe Carlos Morris will have a better conference season next year than Austin has had in his career. I understand if folks disagree.

Rebounds, steals, deflections, limiting the opponent's best perimeter player, could go on and on... but apparently they only help your team win if you're a big man or a pg. I would love to hear the logic in that.
