Marlene should ditch that zone defense. It's the only thing the team is terrible at.
 

Boilers sliced and diced the 2-3 zone. Purdue got whatever shot they wanted. Lucky down only 11. Boilers missed a few bunnies, too.

So did Maryland and Indiana recently. I really think this team could be alot better off going with man-to-man defense.
 

Minnesota's just getting embarrassed now. Purdue playing like they would against a 2-person defense.
 

Gopher guards have been very bad tonight. Not allowing us to get back into the game despite Zahui's huge performance going on right now. Still a chance to make a run, but the guard play has to significantly improve.
 

Wagner has fouled out, which really hurts, but Zahui's going off right now. 24 or 26 points and 12 rebounds right now. 75-73 Purdue with 3 mins left. Gotta hold it down on D!
 



We are screwed now. Zahui has just fouled out. Zahui and Wagner on the bench, down 4 with about 2:30 left. Only hope now is Shae Kelley, who's having an off night.
 

If they pull this out, you'll know where all of the luck is residing in the basketball programs this year!
 

Going into OT. No Zahui, Wagner, McDaniel (on top of Banham of course) available to the Gophers for the rest of the game though. If they pull this one off, I'm convinced they're invincible.
 

Gophers winning 88-86 with about 1:40 left in OT.
 

Turnovers killing us. Opportunity to hold for the game winning shot and we turn it over. Up to Purdue now to end the game.
 

Gophers lose 90-88 to Purdue in OT. Valiant comeback effort, but certainly not a good loss for Minnesota. Back at it on Sunday at Rutgers.
 

Rutgers was ranked earlier. Not sure if they're now. Maryland handled them pretty well at Rutgers.
Gophers will have to deal with a good crowd. Rutgers draws well.

Great news. This team is going to be very hard to beat next year.
 

Glad to hear it. If she returns to full health, 2 legit 1st or 2nd-team All-American candiates in the starting lineup.

And potentially a 3rd (Wagner) a couple years down the road?

The next step is to find some size at the forward spot. The lack of size really hurts the Goph's Zone D. It's too easy for opponents to make entry passes and shoot over shorter defenders within the zone, particulary at the hight post.

Interesting game last night. Zahui and Wagner fouled out, McDaniel got hurt at the end, Mullaney committed some horrendous turnovers and they still almost won.

The man-to-man used at the end of regulation worked. Should have stuck with that in OT.

Yep, and they used it for one play in the first half as well. It should have worked then as well. Purdue was reduced to chucking up a wild shot on the drive as the shot clock expired. Unfortunately AZB committed a bad foul.
