I hear ya. Nate does play on a very talented team, so 12 points isn't bad on a team like that. I look forward to the next Josh Martin video that comes out.
 



Carlos Morris looks like he can score from anywhere on the offensive end, looks like a perfect fit for what Pitino wants to do, I expect that he can give quality minutes for us. I think all three these guys will get decent minutes next year.
 

Morris is a versatile player from probably the best JUCO conference in the country. That said, he's shooting 17% from the 3 and averages 13 ppg in conference. I don't see him as a starter, but feel he will give us quality minutes off the bench. Good ball handler and passer, and I've read he's a good defender. Don't confuse him with the 4*'s paraded in from of us this summer. Coach P. and staff are not done recruiting wings.


EDIT: I have not been down to Florida to see him play. He shot 25% from the 3 as a freshman in conference and 37.8% overall in conference.
 










I saw martin play over the holidays while visiting family, and he is a tweener, very strong however, already has B1G strength, but not sure how he will fair on the defensive end at the 4, he is like oto/king size wise meaning he is somewhere between a 3 and 4. I will say though that the kid gives it his all on every play and has a nose for the ball so to speak, which probably explains his high rebound average. I think he is a great fit for pitino's system especially if we plan on playing small. Taking my homer glasses off for a second, he made the right chose picking Minnesota, suits him very well and should flourish in it. Looking forward to seeing him next year in maroon and gold!

All 6-foot 9-inches of Cougar center Josh Martin charged down the lane toward the basket during the opening minutes of the third quarter. Players from Federal Way High School amassed under the hoop as Martin went hard to the basket. The play ended with Eagle Christian Jones on the floor clutching his ankle and Martin on the bench with a less severe ankle injury.

But the injury kept Martin out of the rest of the game.

"It was a huge loss for us," said Bothell head coach Ron Bollinger. "He averages 28 or 29 points a game and 18 rebounds."

Martin is listed at 6'8" or 6'9" and 230 lbs and looks mucular? tweener at pf ?

Even if he's 6'7" and 230 lbs i just saw a tape of him doing a between the legs dunk, I doubt Oto could do that and I know King cannot. So he is at least as athletic as Oto while being more muscular, especially as a freshmen. Not sure how big you want your pf to be? Other than Michigan st., or tubby's twin tower lineup, nobody seems to play to true post players anymore.
Big ten team's starting 4's: Payne, Dekkar, G. Robinson, Basabe, L. Ross, Travis, Simpson, Lumpkin?, Ekey, etc. Most of these guys have perimeter skills and are about 6'7" and 220 ish. I think we get our estimates mixed up with NBA size for a position. I would worry more about whether Martin can guard these face up 4's on the permeter over whether he could battle inside? I am not saying Martin will solve our 4 spot issues but he is another body who can battle on the boards and I wouldn't think he is undersized with most 4's in todays game.

Martin definitely isn't a "tweener" forward. He is a PF with great size and very good perimeter skills for a PF. And with a few years of development he may have a shot at the next level as a SF. Both Pitino and Martin have said as much.

How would you not consider that a tweener? tweener is usually someone who is in between a 1 and a 2 or 3 and a 4. Probably should have used rodney williams or even charles buggs(martin is a lot better) more of an example, instead of oto/king because I think you guys are getting the wrong idea, the kid can play, I don't question his ability, and you definitely want him on the court no matter the position. But when you have him and Pitino, saying he can be a 3 or 4, thats a tweener, tweener is not necessorally a bad thing, not on the college level at least, but can be an issue when you play top college teams who have true PF/C, but for the most part it will not that be big of an issue. Tweener doesn't mean he isn't athletic like oto/king. He is definitely miles ahead of those guys ability wise.
 

Being a "tweener" is almost always a bad thing in sports. If you want to suggest he can play both forward spots, I would use the term "combo." Tweener typically means a player is between positions and as a result can't really play either without a major detriment to the team. According to that article with 3 players perhaps lost for the year- it looks like Morris' role will increase a lot.
