Who should & shouldn't be on it:
SHOULD:
SHOULDN'T:
Ideally, you want to keep this small. Both to minimize leaks, and also to get something done. As a project leader, I've learned that the amount accomplished in any meeting is inversely proportional to the number of people present. The magic number is about 6. Above that its all politics and soapboxing.
And yes there should be a search firm involved, but mainly to screen and vet candidates. Also to do backchannel contacts to see if there's interest.
SHOULD:
- Prexy B
- Maturi - It would look lame if he wasn't, and he's actually very good at this backchannel stuff
- Dungy - its the only way he will be involved in our coaching woes
- Bud Grant - If #3 declines. It would be nice to see him lift a finger to support his Alma Mater. OTOH, it is hunting season. He's pushing 80, but he looked pretty spry up in his luxury box at the dome today
- Tubby - He should be able to do a sniff test on any candidates. Also wouldn't hurt to have a person of color on the committee. MSU had Izzo on the committee that hired Dantonio. Supposedly Tom pushed for Dantonio over Pelini, and that's working out pretty well so far
- Alan Page - Only if Dungy and Tubby aren't there, just from the minority angle. Plus the dude is smart and knows football. Also good on committee type stuff (remember a recent Senate election?), and being a justice, everything would be above board.
- Megabooster - Like T. Denny, except someone a little more stable. Maybe one of the McNamara boys. They should, and will have a voice in this.
SHOULDN'T:
- Any of the regents. It'll be a mess, and they'll have an agenda. Also, lots of leaks. Still, I'll bet at least one of these clowns muscles their way in
- Sid
- Anyone else from the media
- Anyone from the Women's studies dept. Especially that one feminazi Kane
- Any woman, period
