OK, I have no idea how the bowls work these days. It's like "tiered" now and they try to avoid the same team over the course of 5 years I think. Who wants to break this down like a pro, lol? Here's what I got:
Rose: OSU
NYD At-Large: Michigan
Citrus: PSU
Outback: I'd say NW, but they went in 2016. Iowa would be next, but they went last year. I'll say Wisconsin here, although they went in 2015.
Gator: NW
Holiday: Iowa
Redbox: MSU
Pinstripe: Purdue
Quick Lane: MN
First Responders: Nobody
There are 9 eligible B1G teams and we are the only 6-6 team besides Purdue but our conference record is worse so we should be #9. As it stands now:
1. OSU 11-1*
2. Michigan 10-2
3. Northwestern 8-4*
4. Penn. St. 9-3
5. Wisconsin 7-5
6. Michigan St. 7-5
7. Purdue 6-6
8. Iowa 8-4
9. Minnesota 6-6
If we don't qualify for the CFP then these are the bowls these 9 teams can go to:
Not Happening For Minnesota (Probably top 5 B1G here):
1. Fiesta At Large vs. At Large Glendale, AZ
2. Rose Big 10 vs. Pac 12 Pasadena, CA
3. Peach At Large vs. At Large Atlanta, GA
4. Citrus SEC vs. BIG 10 ($8,550,000) Orlando, FL, no Minnesota or Michigan if possible
5. Outback SEC vs. Big 10 ($6,350.000) Tampa, FL, no Minnesota or Michigan if possible
6. Holiday Big 10 vs. Pac 12 ($6,326,258) San Diego, CA, no Minnesota, Nebraska, Wisconsin or Michigan State, if possible
At Least Possible for Minnesota (Probably Michigan St. Iowa, Purdue and Minnesota here):
7. Music City SEC vs. Big 10/ACC/ND ($5,650,000) Nashville, TN, no Penn State or Iowa, if possible
8. Pinstripe Big 10 vs. ACC ($4,300,000) Bronx, NY, no Iowa, Northwestern, Penn State or Indiana, if possible
9. Redbox Big 10 vs. Pac 12 ($3,600,000) Santa Clara, CA, no Purdue, Indiana, Maryland or Nebraska, if possible
10. Quick Lane Big 10 vs. ACC/ND ($750,000) Detroit, MI
The above analysis looks good to me...I don't have a clue. But I know with our lousy attendance, we might not be any bowl committees first choice but with our momentum and Fleck perhaps there will be interest. Representatives from the Citrus, Holiday and Pinstripe Bowl were at the game. *Edited with Short Ornery's info so First Responder's bowl eliminated*
