It's been a while since P.J. Fleck worked alongside Greg Schiano, but the Minnesota head coach still values those years and what he learned from his mentor.

Speaking at Big Ten Media Days Thursday at Lucas Oil Stadium, Fleck gave credit to Schiano for where he is now.

"There are people who make us who we are," Fleck said. "Greg Schiano is – I’m a piece of Greg. Greg and I are two different people but I’m proud to say I’m a disciple of him. He taught me how to be a man. I grew up really fast working for him."

"I was a pup when I got to him," Fleck, 40, said. "I always say I was a boy when I got to Coach Schiano and left a man. I’m forever in debt for what he taught me and how to run a program, how to build a program, what matters."
