Weather for Saturday

The highest the wind chill is supposed to get all day is 2 and will below 0 by the second half. Hopefully it will change a little bit before then. I don't mind the cold but I'm not sure about my wife. If it could get into the upper 20's at least, that would help.

Either way, time to get the winter clothes out. I wish I had my hunting gear with me!

So just a speculative question.... If this game was being played next year with the cold temp and all being predicted... Would the gophers turn on the heating coils??

well considering the day is bracketed by upper 20s and low 30s, i'd say there's a decent chance the weather could be nicer for the game. seems like the only way it can go is up but i'm prepping for the cold! fire in my belly=much louder cheering! :cool02:

I would guess yes.

If it is too cold for anyone and they want to give (yeah, cheap, I know) 2 tix to a huge gopher fan let me know. I didn't pursue coming home for this game earlier because of my wife's due date. Baby came early, mother in law is here, all is good...I have been given the blessing to go "if I can."

Is crazy how the weather people can screw up long range forecasts. For Saturday they started predicting 40's and then each day it has been changing down to 39, 35, 33, 26, 23 and even now struggling to hit 20!

It will be like the game in Minneapolis in 1951, then, below freezing but not snowing - unfortunately, Wisconsin with freshman all-star Alan Ameche, beat Gophers with sophomore all-star Paul Giel 30-6 (freshman could play in '51 because of the Korean War).

The stars are continuing to align for us. Something strange is going on. It is going to be warm the days preceding Saturday and following Saturday. We play on the coldest day of the week. We are going to win this game.

Go Gophers !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

If the forecast turns out to be right, the band is going to have an interesting day. Time for the brass players to put a little Everclear in the valve oil to keep the valves from freezing and even that might not help if it's in the teens.

If the team gives the band a reason to play the Rouser (TDs), those horns will stay plenty warm.

Too bad the Gophers can't switch sides and stand on the sunny side of the field Saturday. Being in the sun makes a huge difference. Of course the sun will be down in the second half, if this was a 11:00 am game, it would have been a big deal.

Did we choose the side we did because they wanted to have the shade in early part of the season to avoid the hot sun?

On a side note, the concourse is going to be jammed throughout the game. During the Penn State game you could hardly move, and the temps were in the 40's that day.

New forecast for Saturday @ 3:00 PM 19 degrees, 11 MPH NW winds. No precip.

Picking the shady side was the goal, for not only the team, but also home side fans and VIPs in the suites and club areas. Even though the shade can admittedly get cool sometimes, the heat and glare on the sunny side during those September and October games can get quite oppressive. What we did is pretty common when schools select the placement of the home bench and fans.

Please send that info to ESPN maybe to KFAN and KSTP-AM, the ESPN affiliate. How they can't figure that out is certainly a head shaker?

The sun will be completely gone by halftime.

Not gonna lie to ya, I kind of like these 2:30 day-into-night games.

I just picked up my new coat today so I'll be all toasty.

rememebr 0 scoring in the 2nd half of the PSU game? 1st team with > 14 pt

gonna get cold for a team playing catch up. neither of these squads have seen these temps.

sure would be nice to have heating coils. maybe the vikings can splurge for heated seats too.

Got all my clothes ready for tomorrow. Stopped by Dick's on my way home and spent way more than I should have for new gloves, hat and face cover but at least I'll be warm from tailgating until the end of the game (and more tailgating). Pretty funny, as I was looking for the stuff at Dick's there were at least 10 other people picking up gear. We just looked at each other and said "Gophers?" YEP!!
