Madden 22 was just released, and it is always fun to see how our favorite former Gophers are rated in the game. The Gophers have sent a decent amount of talent to the NFL under PJ Fleck. 17 former players are currently on NFL rosters, and that number is bound to increase. The Gophers have sent several young and intriguing talents to the league, so these ratings feel destined to make another big leap next year.

Here are 5 highest rated Gophers in Madden 22.

Antoine Winfield Jr. 87 Overall

This should come as no surprise to anyone who follows the NFL. Winfield Jr. was selected with the 45th overall pick in the 2020 NFL draft by the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. All Winfield Jr. has done in his young career is win a Super Bowl in his rookie season, give us this wonderful moment, and make a Pro Bowl in 2022. Oh, and he was also just named the NFL’s 75th best player in the NFL Top 100 list. Winfield has put up solid stats in the NFL, and is an integral piece of the Buccaneers defense moving forward. The sky is the limit, as evidenced by his Gopher record 7 interceptions in 2019.

De’Vondre Campbell 87 Overall

After several solid years in the league, De’vondre Campbell broke out in a major way in 2021. Campbell was named first team all pro after a dominant season in which he recorded 146 tackles, 6 tackles for loss, 2 interceptions, and 2 forced fumbles. Campbell is one of the NFL’s brightest stars at linebacker, and was named the NFL’s 49th best player, the highest of any former Gopher.

Rashod Bateman 77 Overall

The Baltimore Ravens selected Rashod Bateman with the 27th pick in the 2021 NFL draft, and he contributed immediately. In his rookie season, Bateman tallied 46 receptions for 515 yards and a touchdown. With receiver Marquise Brown off to Arizona, Bateman will slide into the role of Lamar Jackson’s top option out wide. Expect a big sophomore year for Bateman.

Maxx Williams 76 Overall

Throughout his 7 year career, Maxx Williams has mostly been a depth guy for the Cardinals and Ravens. He has contributed 102 receptions for 994 yards and 6 touchdowns over his career. Coming off an ACL injury last year, Williams should still get meaningful playing time despite playing alongside veteran Zach Ertz and rookie Trey McBride.

Tyler Johnson 74 Overall

Tyler Johnson is perhaps the most beloved Gopher to come out of the program in recent years. He’s still striving to make a name for himself in the NFL, though developing in a Tom Brady led offense certainly will not hurt his stock. Through two years, Johnson has amassed 48 receptions for 529 yards and 2 touchdowns. The Buccaneer receiving room has been loaded – stars such as Mike Evans, Chris Godwin, Antonio Brown, and now Julio Jones have been ahead of him on the depth chart. However, Johnson is too good for the Buccaneers to get rid of, and his time will come.

Go Gophers!!

As a noob I thought this was top 100 overall. I thought how in the world can Maxx be rated over Winfield? And how come two guys at 87? I need to lay off the hard stuff.

What is top five for badgers and Iowa?

What is top five for badgers and Iowa?
Couldn't find Iowa but did for Wisconsin. JJ Watt is that high solely based on his production from 4+ years ago. There's no way he's as good as Winfield or Campbell right now.

Mid 70s seems like about what the median would be
