7. Dawson Garcia, Minnesota: Garcia had to leave North Carolina mid-season for personal reasons. If he returns to his Marquette form from his freshman season then the Gophers could be a postseason team.

I don’t think that Katz wanted to put more than one Illinois player on the list. Matt Mayer is better than a number of players on that list. I guess we will see when it plays out.

I’d put Mayer and Garcia in the same boat. Both could be viewed as disappointments last season, but both are capable of a lot more this season.
