Scary article. Interesting angle is that many universities are considering eliminating baseball just when big league teams are starting to take greater interest in the college game (drafting more college players). I have always thought, that at least in the case of baseball, there are some synergies between the pro game and college game that should be explored further.
 

MLB, NHL, and even the NBA are more fun to follow when U.S. born players are involved and starring. This is what adds to the NFL's popularity.
 

Few Big Ten schools followed the Title IX ruling as well as Minny did. How were we to know the federal govt wouldn't enforce it. it may get mocked here but MN has some of the finest female collegiate athletes in the nation.
 


Finest athletically I'd say. A lot of them come from other countries to play here (like tennis). Too bad they just eat up money. I don't mind the lower level programs sticking around as long as our big timers do well and can afford to throw cash their way.
