This is Steve Deace’s 2020 team talent ranking. He basically uses the 247 composite rating for all players on a roster (except for 5th year Seniors who don’t contribute on the field) and adjusts up if a player has performed well above his initial rating (he used Tanner Morgan as an example. He gets 4 stars in this ranking). He did this last year, and had the Gophers somewhere in the top 25 (I don’t recall exactly what the ranking was). If you want to know more about his methodology, the link is at the bottom. It’s important to note that these rankings will change due to transfers.

Seeing the 3 powerhouses out East as the top 3 isn't a shocker, but the other teams with us 4-8 are certainly a surprise.

Not sure if this passes the eye test for me. Ahead of Wisconsin/Nebraska and essentially tied with LSU?

EDIT: I realized this is RETURNING production for 2020. That is much more plausible.

I’ve been following this guy for a long time, and I’m sure this is well thought out. That said, he doesn’t show his math. I wonder if we have anyone besides Morgan getting bumped to 4 star status.

The 247 average, mean or median is derived from made up numbers.
If it makes anyone feel better about next season be my guest but do not bet the mortgage money.

Well I for one won't pay much attention to this one. Perhaps an interesting concept but I'm not going to buy it.
