In the next two weeks come two games against Michigan and a date at Iowa, which will be thirsting to avenge its overtime defeat in Minneapolis on Christmas Day, but, man, did the Gophers look great on Sunday in beating Ohio State by 17 points in The Barn. They did the same to Michigan State on Dec. 28, and I imagine they have many more impressive outings to come. Marcus Carr, a 6-2 junior guard who ranks 12th in the country in scoring (22.7) and leads the Big Ten in assists (6.2) is playing as well as any guard in America, and Richard Pitino has brought in a trio of terrific transfers in 7-foot junior center Liam Robbins (Drake), 6-6 junior guard Both Gach (Utah) and 6-8 senior forward Brandon Johnson (Western Michigan). Robbins especially is emerging as an unstoppable force down low. He had 27 points, 14 rebounds, five blocks and four assists in the win over the Buckeyes.
