Overall 7-5 (4-4)

I'd say we win one vs either USC, Penn St, Ohio St, Iowa, or @Wisconsin, I picked Iowa

What does everyone else think?

A Hair Care Product Year

6-6 . . . lather . . . rinse . . . repeat.

Interesting, in your scenario, Brewster would likely be coaching for his job against Iowa. No way he gets a 5th year if he finishes below .500 in the Big Ten and loses to both Wisconsin and Iowa again.

I see the Gophers taking a step up to 8-4 in 2010 or taking a step back to 5-7. I think the end result will depend largely on our offense, and thus, largely on Weber/Gray.

call me crazy. but a 9-3 record is how i see it. yes call me crazy. one can dream.

@ MTSU -W (this is the game that will show if/how much the Gophers have improved
vs South Dakota -W
vs USC - L (but I think the Gophers have a better chance than people think)
vs NIU - W
vs Northwestern - W
@ Wisconsin - W (Their D-line won't be as good without O'Brien S, and our O-line will be better.
@ Purdue - W (they have had a rash of spring injuries, and it looks like their best player Bolden might be out for the year)
vs Penn St - W (at home with a new, young, inexperienced QB)
vs Ohio St -L
@ MSU -L (this will be next year's truly flukey loss, a weird reminder that the Gophers have improved but aren't quite there yet)
@ Illinois - W
vs Iowa-L (Gophers have a shot here, but next year is going to be Iowa's best team for a long time. If the Gophers win this game Brewster will have more than earned his meager extension)

8-4 (5-3 Big Ten) --Next year will be the pleasant surprise that leads into the monster years of 2011-2012 when the Gophers will contend for the Big Ten Title and MarQueis Gray will be one of the most feared QBs in the nation.

crazy

I see 8-4 maybe 9-3

4-8 if Weber is starting QB during Big Ten play

6-7 (Including Bowl Loss.) 3-5 Big Ten, 3-1 Non Conference, 0-1 Bowl

@ MTSU Win
vs South Dakota Win
vs USC Loss
vs NIU Win
vs Northwestern Loss
@ Wisconsin Loss
@ Purdue Win
vs Penn St Loss
vs Ohio St Loss
@ MSU Win
@ Illinois Win
vs Iowa Loss
@ Bowl Loss

12-0

Undefeated, winning the national championship. As likely as any prediction out there.

W @ Mid Tenn St
W vs So Dak
L vs So Cal
W vs No Illinois
W vs N'western
L @ Wisconsin
L @ Purdue
L vs Penn St
L vs Ohio St
L @ Mich St
W @ Illinois
L vs Iowa

The usual good start (4-1) and poor finish (1-6) for a 5-7 final record. Though I agree, I can see an upset in one of the big 4 games... the "marquee" win. So 6-6 potentially, but that means 6-7 after the traditional Brewster Bowl loss. Then again, I can also see an early season choke to MTSU, NIU, or NU -- all better teams than we're giving them credit for.

6-6 (4-4)

6 wins will be a MAJOR improvement/accomplishment based on this killer schedule.

I think 4-8 is what us Gopher fans will be looking at. One Big Ten win this year.....and then we can talk about whether Brewster deserves to be a Big Ten coach any longer.

My guess is there will be a lot more people that see Tim Brewster the way I do after this next football season.....and after 4-8 it is going to get UGLY on here, too.

9-3 with Gray as the starter. 5-7 with Weber.

I'm not sure Weber has the support from the core athletes on this team anymore.

5-7. Puts Brew/Maturi squarely on the bubble. I hope I am wrong and 8-4 or better happens.

5-7 (2-6)

An optomistic 8-5 - Thanks goodness for Illinois and MSU programs that can't seem to hold it together!!

This is quite a bit of optimism on my part, hoping that Weber can get his stuff together. Losing Decker, his favorite target, might be a big loss mainly because he was Weber's safety valve basically on every play. Our running game should be better this season, and the defense should be just as good even though we are losing some seniors.

7-5 is realistic and anything more will take some luck.

Overall 9-3 (5-3)

Unbridled optimism, baby! I just really think that USC is not going to be as good as they're believed to be every year, and the athleticism of the defense and the simplicity of the offense will help us make significant strides.

I agree except for the last two games, which I'd pick as losses, putting us at 5-7 (2-6)

5-7 and no bowl game. What is the Minnesota identity on offense? Is there a real threat on offense of any kind? 9 starters were lost on defense. Danny Hope is doing tremendous work at Purdue and they will be a much tougher opponent, especially on the road, than many of you think. Penn State has question marks at QB but the coaching staff at Penn State always does great work replacing key players. Minnesota may win 6 games but I see a lack of continuity on offense, similar to the latter part of last season, dooming Minnesota to a poor record.

Ahlibobwa, I think you are right on, this yr. is kind of a crap shoot, but I think that 2011,2012 are the yrs. we turn the corner. Iowa could be the toughest game on the schedule next yr.

@ MTSU - W (tougher game than people think. I do like our fast defense against the spread style QB, it won't seem like it to the gen. population but MTSU is a good team, this is a statement game)
vs South Dakota - W
vs USC - L
vs NIU - W
vs Northwestern - W
@ Wisconsin - L (Wisconsin still scares me. We don't have the largest front 7, and I have a hard time believing that we will do too well against their Big Oline and Clay).
@ Purdue - W
vs Penn St - W
vs Ohio St - L
@ MSU - L (I'm a Gopher fan, so I had to pick one real disappointing loss)
@ Illinois - W
vs Iowa - W (Probably the biggest game in Brew's tenure).

I see 8-4 or 7-5, which I think would actually be a pretty big improvement over last season (with our schedule). I know a 7-5 or 6-6 season would not look good to the average Joe, but it would actually be a step in the right direction.

6-6 (3-5); I just don't know where we'll get the offensive pop from yet.

6 wins will be a MAJOR improvement/accomplishment based on this killer schedule.

I agree, but rarely any slack is given due to the schedule. 6-6 without marquee wins will be seen/reported as a step back. See 2009.

5-7, 2-6 Big Ten

Both Big Ten wins on the road.

@ MTSU - W (similar in score to Syracuse last year but MTSU is a much better team)
vs South Dakota - W (first lopsided score in a while)
vs USC - L (I see the game being close but can't quite go out on that limb just yet)
vs NIU - W
vs Northwestern - W (close game just like the last few years)
@ Wisconsin - W (Brew finally touches the Axe)
@ Purdue - L (let down game we always seem to have)
vs Penn St - W (young qb and I see them struggling this year)
vs Ohio St - L (as bad as I'd like us to win I don't see our offense scoring enough, def will be respectable)
@ MSU - W (close one but we pull it out as they have been up and down lately)
@ Illinois - W (the slide continues)
vs Iowa - W (tough d again but their o doesn't scare me)

I guess that puts us at 9-3, probably a skewed a game this early with high hopes (thinking 8-4 is closer to reality)
