Official 2015 Recruiting Updates Thread: Links, Tweets, Videos, Stories, Rumors, etc.

Not trying to disagree with you or anything but that is changing imo from people i've heard of. MN popularity is growing there in part because of Kill's attitude and in part because of on the field success. And that win over Neb definitely doesn't hurt.
This, and there are an awful lot of Minnesotans moving to Sioux Falls.

You were ripped because you have no inside information and have claimed he probably isn't coming here, even though he has visited us 5-6 times and had said we were his leader.

So I'm not allowed to have an opinion. Good to know.

I'm fairly positive that he's paid by Scout to post those, because Scout is all he ever uses.

My guess is that since Fox is an owner of BTN and Scout used to be owned by Fox (apparently sold to North American Membership Group in 2013), there's some sort of relationship.

None of this explains why he's tweeting clearly misleading and damaging material about the gophers.

He put as much effort into this as he probably did into the coach's poll back in his day. He's getting paid most likely a substantial sum to be an analyst.

Start acting like one Gerry.

Well most gopher fans, myself included don't like it when a poster says something along the lines of "they have offers this helmet school and that blue blood so why in the world would they come here?" without a quote of them actually favoring those programs over us. Especially with instate kids. The moment they get an offer actually wait and see before you make a bold assumption. It annoyed the he'll out of me when everybody was crystal balling Jeff to Michigan or freaking out when Duke offered Reid the day of with zero evidence of them favoring them over us or getting their thoughts on the offer. Now this isn't entirely directed at you or Grant not making any comments about OSU because he has but just my general feelings the subject.

+1, I'd have to agree that this is the one of the main things I'd like to change about Minnesotans. I think it's our passive aggressiveness, manifested in feelings of insecurity. Unfortunately, it culminates in a self-fullfilling prophecy. Why would a kid go to Minnesota, if the folks in MN don't think he should. Then we ****ing talk it up to no end.

Doesn't stop in sports:

Our last Governor (T-Paw) used to advertise about how burdensome the business climate was here, even when all evidence points to the contrary. Like the best place for starting a fortune 500 and most educated work force, etc. Unprecedented Access to sports, theater, arts, parks, water sports.

Instead of choosing to highlight the thousands of advantages that draw 3.5 Million people to choose the TC, despite the freezing temperatures, we collectively focus on the 2 or 3 reasons why one should choose to live, work play, elsewhere.

I wouldn't say that Minnesotans say kids should not come here though. Many just don't think they will come here. Minnesota gopher fans at least.

I agree with you ats. Not only the insecurity part, but the mind boggling attitude my right-leaning pals (living in MN) have about MN being a liberal disaster despite clearly having one of the healthiest economies in the US, one of the highest per capita incomes, one of the lowest unemployment rates, and the twin cities teeming with smart, hard-working young people that make small companies successful and large companies more successful. That last part is whats missing in so many places.

My attitude is, if you want to whine about taking yourself to TX the GTFO and someone else will take your place and your market share.

The only thing bad about MN is the long winter. Focus on all the positives! Sell!

I don't think it's being defeatist to point out a fairly basic fact.

A recruit is choosing between two programs; one program is nationally ranked, contends for conference and national honors, and is featured on lots of prime time TV games. The other program has not reached any of those levels. And yet, when the recruit chooses the more prominent program, some people express disbelief.

The surprise is not that he picked OSU. The surprise would be if he picked the Gopher over OSU. That is not a knock on Kill or the Gophers, just an honest assessment of where the two programs sit in the college FB pecking order.

It's like asking, which woman would you rather fool around with - a sports illustrated swimsuit cover model, or some babe who models for Target print ads? Most guys would go with the SI model.

Screw him.

To those freaking out over Schmidt, I was unaware a commitment at this time was binding. there's a whole hell of a lot of time left for work to be done

I agree with out if state kids mostly but if a kid lives in Minneapolis or the metro area or anywhere in Minnesota really than they should be expected to attend the University of Minnesota. I guess i am old school on this but i just don't think Minnesota kids should go to Wisconsin and Wisconsin kids should go to Minnesota etc. Plus it is surprising to some because ever since September or whenever it was he has said that we are his #1 and actually as of yesterday he said that we are tied with OSU for #1.

thankfully we have morons like you to bring politics into a sports discussion. Take this crap to the off topic board.

Well he visited Minnesota 5 times and never committed and visited OSU once and committed on the spot. Plus he seems like a high character guy that would stick with his commitment. The ones that are always flipping back and fourth seem to be head cases like Andre Mcdonald.

Calm down. Short Ornery Norwegian was the "moron" that brought it up in the first place anyways.

it's the weekend of a camp. everyone there is all excited and pressuring him to commit. easy to get wrapped up in something. we'll see once he evaluates his options more. odds are that he will take an official here to be sure and you never know what can happen come near to signing day, especially with a guy like Urban pulling strings over at OSU.

No, he's right. Wrong tone. Sorry about that. Point was some people always seem to focus on the negatives (despite all the positives) and I chose to give as an example my political zealot friends and came off like one myself.

Well, if I want my mom and dad to easily be able to drive a few hours to watch me "fool around with" a babe from the target print ads vs. a 14 plus hour drive to watch me with an SI model, I would want my parents (especially dad) to watch me with the "B" girl. I mean, it's the least I can do for him.

247 sports says we have commit #4. They should be able to announce who sometime this morning.

Supposedly Burns' SV will announce next week so apparently it isn't him.

I get choosing tOSU over the U. I don't like it, but I get it. I also appreciate the early commitment. It is when folks wait untill the last second to choose Arkansas or flip to Wisconsin/Vanderbilt that I shake my head.

247 is backing off its earlier statement, saying there was a miscommunication with the player and/or his high school coach and the announcement will be made within a week. Could be the same guy Burns is talking about.
