I went into TCF stadium for the first time on Saturday during the Gophers practice. Here are a couple of first impressions.
1) Nothing looks cheap -everything is first class quality. I didn't realize that the outdoor club level seats have cushions on the bottom. They have plastic backs like other seats but nice cushions on the bottom.
2) Upper level seats have a better view of the field than lower deck seats. Even the top row of upper deck offers a great view. The U couldn't ask for big $ for suites & boxes without a great view and those seats that appear way up there offer a great viewing angle.
3) The bathrooms were locked so I couldn't see them to see if they have TVs but the concourse has many TVs to get you updated while getting a hot dog.
4) The steps to the upper level from the concourse are only wide enough to allow one person to go up and one person to go down at the same time. I wish the steps were wider to allow for the rush at half time and after games. This is my biggest worry.
5) The locker room is awesome and the pictures of past players above each locker is a great idea.
6) Seat backs are worth the $50 (includes taxes & fees). They were very comfortable.
7) The scoreboard sound is great and can be turned up very loud!
8) The end zones appear even more red when you stand on the field. I'm sorry to complain but they now have lots of black pellets toward the top and once those get worn down into the turf more, I would think the end zones would get even lighter in color.
9) The railings going up the rows are low enough that they do not block your view while sitting down. However, there are taller railings at the first row in front of the gates that will block the view of some in the first or second row quite a bit.
10) Hall of Fame room is still far from being completed.
11) The last 5 or so rows of the upper deck on the home side are under the overhang that covers the pressbox. Those will be great seats when it rains as it should provide some protection.
12) Goldy's was open and while they still may be getting in some merchandise they did have two Nike home replica jerseys for sale. The jerseys were #7 Decker and ................#5 Gray. Does Goldy's know something that we don't about the starting QB?
