Mo Ibrahim Big Ten RB of the Year

Awesome! Congrats, Mo.

I think things get pretty interesting now to see if he comes back or goes out on a high note. It's kinda the same as Winfield last year (although he was projected higher). But have to wonder how much more Mo can improve his stock with another year

per the U:

Ibrahim Named Big Ten Running Back of the Year
Ibrahim leads seven Gophers on offense who were honored by the Big Ten

University of Minnesota running back Mohamed Ibrahim was named the Big Ten’s Ameche-Dayne Running Back of the Year today.

Ibrahim is the first Gopher ever to receive this honor and he is the third Minnesota student-athlete to be named a conference Player of the Year in the last two seasons. In 2019, Rashod Bateman was named the Big Ten Receiver of the Year, while Antoine Winfield was named the Big Ten Defensive Back of the Year.

Ibrhaim was also named All-Big Ten First Team by both the coaches and the media. He was the media’s lone unanimous player to be named All-Big Ten First Team.

Ibrahim is one of 10 semifinalists for the Doak Walker Award, which is presented to the top running back in the country, and is the lone Big Ten back on the list.

Despite playing in only six games, Ibrahim leads the Big Ten in rushing attempts (175), rushing yards (925), rushing touchdowns (15), average rushing yards per game (154.2), all-purpose yards (1,028), scoring (90 points) and points per game (15.0).

He has rushed for at least 100 yards in all six games this year and his current streak of seven straight games with at least 100 yards rushing is tied with Laurence Maroney for the most in school history.

The Big Ten also announced that Rashod Bateman (coach and media), Blaise Andries (media) and Conner Olson (media) were named All-Big Ten Third Team. Bateman, who was named 2019 All-Big Ten First Team, carded 472 receiving yards in five games in 2020 before opting out for the rest of the season. Andries was named All-Big Ten Third Team in 2019 by the coaches and media, while Olson was named Honorable Mention by the coaches and media.

Tanner Morgan, who was All-Big Ten Second Team in 2019, was named Honorable Mention (coaches and media), as was John Michael Schmitz (coaches and media), Sam Schlueter (coaches and media), Conner Olson (coaches) and Blaise Andries (coaches).

Go Gophers!!

I'm happy for Mo and all the other Gophers recognized.

Back in the day, this didn't happen often. They mostly got participation ribbons.

Can someone find the graphic showing most TDs by Gophers RBs in a single season?

Mo is like 2-3 behind the record and played 5 1/2 games.

How does Wisconsin get the award named after two of their running backs. Granted, both Ron Dayne and Alan Ameche were great backs. But there is also, Red Grange, Archie Griffin, Lorenzo White, Bruce Smith, Niles Kinnick and a few more that are worthy of it.

Actually, it was named after Don Ameche
