I am glad Coach Kill has had early success in lining up MN kids to stay home. We need to keep the MN best players from leaving the state even though there have been few MN impact players lately.

The majority of the talent has to come from other zipcodes than MN if we are going to be able to make a run for a BT titile

Here are the top 5 rated Rivals MN kids since 2006.

06: Carufel-ND/MN; McMichael-BC; Hoey-WI; Sheehan-Purdue; Royston-WI/MN
07: Jacobs-MN; Binns-Iowa; Tate'-MN; Davis-MN and now doing track; Haig-Illini
08: Floyd-ND; Mobley-OSU; Maresh-MN; Schafer-WI; Kelly-Wi
09: McNeal-Clemson; Alipate-MN; Hagemann-MN; Garin-MN; Campion-MN
10: SH-Miami; Gjere-MN; Edwards-MN; Tarpley-Stanford; Allen-WI
11: T. Olson-MN; Farrow-VT; Westerhaus-MN; Hayes-Stanford; Crawford-Tufts-MN

The 06-08 kids are marginal and none have performed at a high level outside of Floyd when healthy and eligible. Its too early to judge the 09-11 classes at this time but the 09 group looks pretty average at best to date.

A few of the #6-#10 MN players, such as Gilreath and Sorenson-WI; Weber-MN; Frazier-Rice; McNaul-NU; and Bunders-MN have done OK. we probably would have had better records if these kids stayed home but not nearly what we need to compete for a title.

Who knows how good the 11 group and the 12 class will be. But if history holds true, Coach Kill has to get the majority of the talent from elsewhere.

Great breakdown. When Alvarez came in to the Badgers He stated that beyond ol road graders, Wisconsin had no other d-1 talent. The formula Wisky has done is keep the top talent, recruit speed oos, keep them eligible and coach them up. Kill will get this done. Have faith!!!

Going back though I think you can find impact players from just about any position within the state, although you won't find impact players at every position every year.

MN has produced QBs (Weber), RBs (A. Robinson, M. Barber), WRs (Decker, Floyd, Gilreath, I. Anderson, B. Robinson), TEs (Carlson, Spaeth), OL (Carufel, Murtha, basically our entire line), DL (Binns, Klug), LBs (Laurinaitis, McNaul, Sorensen), DBs (Royston, D. Barber). Granted that's going back a long time, and certainly in a given year you will HAVE to go out of state to find talent. But we could do well securing the best talent year-in and year-out from our home state.
