I am not sure if this is old news, but it looks like he decommitted from Missouri, and it is now between the U of M, Arkansas and Nebraska. This would be a very nice pick up, as he has a very nice offer list.

Amongst the receivers we have been recruiting Marquise Hill is the target that I like the most. He is quick and shifty and would probably fill a role similar to Troy Stoudermire and Bryant Allen.

He has an outstanding offer list. Really, I think one of the issues a lot of people have right now with recruiting is that they tend to get caught up with the rating system. 5.5, 4 star etc, etc but I think the true measurement of a player is the kind of offers they are pulling in. I realize some players who are rated highly only have one or two offers but recruitment ended early for them (Gjere). But Marquise hill is actually rated lower than Kenny Bell on rivals, another recruit we are after, and Marquise has a much more impressive offer list. Just some food for thought.

any visit in the works?

He took an unofficial visit here this past summer. Although I haven't heard anything I'm sure it is a safe bet that he will take an official visit to all of his favorites and Minnesota is on that list.

While this is true, the recruiting websites base their rankings in part on the offer list of players, so the two typically go hand-in-hand.

Also, you're wrong about Hill and Bell. They are both 3-star recruits with an exact ranking of 5.6, so neither is ranked higher than the other. Hill has a few more offers than Bell, but the difference is pretty negligible.

While this is true, the scouting openly admit that they base their rankings in part on the offer list of players, so the two typically go hand-in-hand.

Actually if you look closely enough, Kenny Bell is the 54th ranked athlete by rivals while Marquise Hill is the 79th ranked athlete, even though both achieve 5.6 status.

There are still some inaccuracies with some of the ratings. For example look at RobDonovan Lewis. He is a 5.7 rated corner back and has a much weaker offer list them some of the corners below him that we are going after. But for the most part, if you look at the players you are right. Does anyone know how often rivals updates their player rankings for those outside of the rivals 250?

I like the small and shifty guys but don't we have enough of these already? I may be wrong, but who's going to fill the spot of eric decker, a guy who has size and can go up and get the ball. If we have somebody in mind, than that's great, go after hill hard. If not, i'd like to see them go after somebody with some more size.

I have been wondering this exact same thing. We need a few guys with size. All of our receivers coming back next year seem to be lacking in that department with the exception of Dajon Mcknight who hasn't really done anything so far this year. When you watch Miami play you notice all of there receivers are 6'2 + and are very fast and tough to cover.

If we have a few some will start turning up as CB's. that's not all bad.

PSU did just fine the past few years with 3 undersized, but highly talented WRs. Size isn't as important as speed, hands, and smarts.

Isn't Victor Keise supposed to be on the taller side who can go get the ball. He might not be the burner with the height that we want but i am guessing they will turn him into a big possesion receiver. And can we please not look forward to the next "Decker" guy. I mean it's just unreal expectations to have a guy as good as him come along every year. He is a straight up stud but i think across the board we have the chance to have better receivers as a whole, as good as we have seen in recent memory.

I believe Rivals is reporting Hill is now committing to Minnesota!

It sounds like a number of commits were waiting to see how the Gophers did against Cal.

I Like What ESPN Says

"Hill has the quickness, ball skills and overall athleticism to play multiple positions. The only thing missing is the great size in terms of bulk even though he has good height. As a running back has good vision and makes sharp cuts both in the interior or on the outside. Follows blockers and shows a burst once in the openfield. Displays the talent to make tacklers miss in the openfield and possesses deceivingly good speed. Elusive and hard to bring down when in one on one situations. A very gifted receiver that can go up to high point the football or turn across his body to make the difficult reception. Courage to catch the football in a crowd or across the middle and then make valuable yards after the catch; slippery and hard to bring down once he makes the reception. Stays on his feet displaying excellent balznce and body control. Hill could end up playing either side of the ball as well as a return specialist who can make good moves while heading north and south. He will need to put on some bulk at the next level."

He's rated a 76 by ESPN, and he's a Rivals 3-star/5.6 with a pretty good offer list, as has been mentioned previously (Arkansas, Iowa, Wisconsin, Northwestern).

With that size and speed combination, I would be happy if he ends up at either WR or CB. Just get him in the weight room ASAP.
