I'd be pissed if I just pledged a couple million bucks and then had someone publicly say that the donations received so far were "B" level.

I suspect that none of the pledges yet are a couple million dollars.

Bookmarking this post for when we hear the real number and Teague gets blasted for saying the level of donations was a "B" Level and GH says it's "F"

Damned if you do damned if you don't Teague...

IF

Damned if you do damned if you don't Teague...

Absolutely true IF you are that stupid! Then ya, shut up and get a different job. If someone contributes $5,000, $10,000, $100,000
$1,000,000 or more and you are calling it a "B" level contribution...
and I was the contributor I'd be pissed.

You'd avoid that if it was public and you had acknowledged tiers of
Gold, Silver, Bronze yadda yadda ... which they may have... but to lump everyone together as a "B" level contributor is totally insulting.

IF, they don't have anyone who has ponied up over a million dollars, at this point, after years of whining about a basketball practice facility, they should all be replaced, transferred, fired or worse. Can't be, can it? Unless, you are telling people thanks for your "B" level contribution of any amount. I mean come on!

I'm gonna agree with this guy. If I had contributed money and the AD tells the board that it was "B" level, they aren't getting anymore of my money.

It is all a matter of perspective. I suppose some people might get offended that their $1,000 contribution is not seen as "A" level but when you are talking about a 190 million dollar project an A level contribution would have to be huge and most likely made by a major corporation.

Saying a contribution is "B" level is not downgrading the contribution it is just saying that it is not to the level that is truly difference making in a campaign of this size. I am sure anyone that contributes to the campaign is still getting plenty of love from the Athletic Department to make them feel special.

Do you know that there aren't discussing "A" "B" & "C" levels with donors when they meet with them? Woodie's been around the block long enough, I'm not worried about him insulting anyone.

I could definitely see people being upset if Teague used the term "B" to describe a substantial donation (if one indeed happened)

I will stand by my statement that Teague is damned if he does and damned if he doesn't give updates. When asked a question like that had he said A (Gold/significant whatever description you choose) people would have been pissed and said he sugar coated the amount if it came out, if he said C(bronze, poor) you all would have asked him to be fired... If he stayed silent you all would have speculated that we've got nothing...

Damned if you do, Damned if you don't Teague.

What does Teague know, he's stupid.

I would assume when talking to the donors the topic of what level each donation is considered comes up.

No one is being insulted.

I think his priority needs to be bringing in money, and in this case he probably should have kept "B" level in his head.

You are right though, we're going to dissect whatever he says and we'll likely be pissed until the thing is actually built.

But Teague's job isn't to make the Gopherholers happy. Right now, it is to bring money in and keep donators happy.

I think an AD's job is simpler (though not necessarily easier) than that. Put good teams on the field for the three big sports, do it while turning a profit, and don't cheat or allow a scandal to develop in the meantime. If our football team is in the Rose Bowl, our basketball team is in the Final Four, and our hockey team is a national champion, I think we'd all forgive him if this fundraising campaign falls flat on its face. Conversely, if we are still struggling to make the NCAA tournament, losing football games to Wisconsin, and not taking home hockey national titles, it won't matter if he manages to secure the finest facilities in the country.

I want both.

Just announce that your going to put slot machines at the Stadium to help raise funds and see if you can entice the Casino money to come in to keep that from happening, then rename it the Mystic Training Center. That's where Kill will magically transform the team into B1G champions.

Don't laugh, it might work. Should help the tailgating atmosphere.:cheer::drink::party:

Why not allow the U to have a casino to raise money. Sounds fantastic. Fund scholarships and building programs for the U.

Thumbs up, crazy idea.

This. Right here. Is the most glorious post I've ever read.

Do you guys really think the Indian casino lobby would approve that?

Try fighting that monopoly.
