This is damn cool, don't care who you are. Way to go, Lindsay!!!

>>The Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame announced the class of 2022 Hall of Fame finalists Friday. Four-time NBA champion Manu Ginobili and four-time WNBA champion Lindsay Whalen are first-time finalists.

Previous finalists included for consideration again this year are five-time NBA champion Michael Cooper, WNBA Coach of the Year Marianne Stanley, five-time NBA All-Star Tim Hardaway Sr., two-time NCAA National Coach of the Year Bob Huggins, the NBA’s sixth-winningest coach of all-time George Karl, the all-time winningest high school coach Leta Andrews, two-time Olympic gold medalist Swin Cash and five-time NBA All-Star Marques Johnson.

"It is a tremendous honor to be named a Finalist for the Basketball Hall of Fame," said Jerry Colangelo, Chairman of the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame. "We’re elated to recognize the achievements by these outstanding men and women who have left a lasting impact on the game of basketball.”

The full class of 2022 will be announced on April 2 at the NCAA Men’s Final Four.

The great thing about the Basketball HOF is that there is a mix of people. NBA, college, men's women's, international. Even a high school coach is nominated

A true world Hall of Fame for a true world game.

Coaching situation aside, this is an unbelievable accomplishment and should be celebrated to the greatest extent. She's an absolute legend as a player for the Gophers, Lynx/WNBA and Team USA. She joins Kevin McHale as the only two Minnesota-born/bred players to make it to the Naismith HOF.

Hats off to thee Lindsay!

Go Gophers!!

Hey now! Let's not forget my fellow Hamline alum Vern Mikkelsen, the original power forward.
Go Pipers!

Congratulations to coach Whalen, she was one heck of a basketball player and this is a deserved honor.

Hope she's in entirely on the basis of her playing career

Congratulations to coach Whalen and well deserved! Hasn’t been the best couple of years for her so hoping this springs a more positive momentum for her!

It's official:

Saturday morning it became official. Former Gophers great and current University of Minnesota basketball coach Lindsay Whalen was named a member of the 2022 Naismith Hall of Fame class. She will be enshrined in the hall during a ceremony in September.

South Carolina coach Dawn Staley, getting ready for the NCAA championship game in Minneapolis, called Whalen "my favorite point guard."

Staley was an assistant coach on the 2016 U.S. team that won Olympic gold in Rio de Janeiro.

"I like how she's wired,'' Staley said of Whalen. "I like the fact that she's so inquisitive. She's a hall of famer, but the questions she asks. … She needed to have a true understanding of what our coaching staff needed. She was unafraid to ask the questions.
