OK -- we're 1-0 in the Big 10 for the first time under Brew. We beat a decent NW team, ON THE ROAD, with overall solid play on both sides of the ball.

- Great first drive, where the offense looked like it had it's $hit together. Overall, Fisch can call a pretty good game when the O-line isn't getting stupid penalties setting up 1 & 20 over and over.

- Defense started out playing well, and we're up 14-3 after getting a short field and mixing the pass and run for a TD. Stoudemire for President (of K returners, at least)!!!

- NW, a decent team with the confidence that comes from beating us two years in a row, believes that they can still win and they move the ball and score. Given the fact that the D couldn't sub due to the no-huddle, we got tired and just weren't making plays for a while. It's hard to "adjust" as a DC to have guys suddenly make plays. We had missed tackles, and were on our heels for a bit.

- Big defensive play by Royston, and Brew makes the right call to run the play at the end of the half to ensure that we don't have a blocked punt. We go into the half with some momentum.

- Both teams make plays and score... it looks like it's gonna be down to the wire.

- Many of the GopherHole folks see doom and gloom...

- The offense makes a huge drive from the 17, and score on a great call and play for the TD. Fisch, Weber and Decker all deserve kudos on that play. Great call, great execution.

- Brandon Green comes up huge, again, on clutch 3rd down plays in the 4th quarter. I predict he's going to have a break out game in the next few weeks (100+ yards and a TD).

- We get TWO huge plays by the defense, McKinley and Wilhite keep playing to the end -- never giving up.

- We win by 11 points, on the road, against a team that is well coached and has decent talent.

Overall, this game was all about positivity. We were NOT out-coached. The offensive game plan was solid, overall -- some mistakes by players, and getting away from the run too much for a while, but we ran it down their throats when we had to. The defensive game plan was solid, overall -- we got on our heels for a while, and NW made plays, but the D buckled down in the 4th quarter and made some huge plays, ensuring the W. We ran the ball effectively. Bennett had a solid game, and Whaley and Gray both made great contributions. Weber made some mistakes, but also made some great passes. Very few penalties.

We have some people on GH who have decided that, whether we win or lose, we should ONLY look at what went wrong. But, we beat a solid team on the road, after an emotional let down losing to Cal. Brew and the kids stepped up, and prepared well and did what they had to this week.

Let's bask in the glow of this win for a few days, and then get ready for a very tough test versus the Badgers.

Go Gophers!!!
