Kiffin

Kiffin doesn't even deserve to have me google his name so I can figure out if I'm spelling it correctly or not.

He's a bad coach, severely handicapping his team the last couple years. It's unfortunate because USC is good for college football as a whole. They need to get someone in there who isn't a stupid monkey

Vegas never takes a loss. The point spread is not an educated guess on how the game will go, it is a number that draws equal money from both sides. The casino takes the juice out of the action. Vegas NEVER loses, as they have no preference for winner or loser. One of the reasons some games have a VERY high point spread is that some players for superstitious reasons can't bet against their team. The proximity of Los Angeles to Vegas had a inflationary effect on this game.

Don't cry for the bookies, they never lose.

That's close but not totally true. Their intent is to get a 50/50 split on the wagers but they don't always get there. The line moves up or down to attempt to get to the desired split.

Keep in mind the geography factor. Vegas is a 5 hour drive from L.A. (I've done it in 4.5). To get that 50/50 split, they're gonna jack up the spread. If the bookies had set the spread where they thought the game was really gonna end up, the I-15 would have been bumper to bumper on Friday (it prop was, anyway) with people heading out to the desert to lay down their mortgage payments on the men of Troy to cover. Then the casinos do take a bath if USC does blow us out.

I understand what you are saying.

The books are taking from the fans and the pros. They move the line to keep a 50/50 balance but if some big money comes in at the last miniute(usually pros) the balance can be affected. The books may have is down to a science but it isn't perfect.
