The only thing is that next year is going to be a big coaching domino year because nobody got axed this year. There could be tons of mid major jobs that open as mobility happens. Even if Pitino gets fired a guy like Jeter who has a good resume would be in demand. It's a really bad job. Would not be good if he bailed, but there are job security risks if he stays here another year.
agree with this fully. It isn't like its the win/loss record at MN that's the reason Jeter is attracting some head coaching buzz. Will be plenty of availability next year for a similar caliber job, so depends on what this one offers that he thinks he can't get next year (unless he just wants the head coaching gig now and wants to move on)The only thing is that next year is going to be a big coaching domino year because nobody got axed this year. Molinari is available...I think. This sucks. We will need to find someone to run our defense. We’ve improved since he’s been here. Now Conroy leaving I could probably be ok with.
Again, really like Rob and the hire but wondered what made you think he was a defensive specialist. His defenses as a head coach ranked as follows : 58,182,114,186,151,137,84,283,164,220,217.We lose Jeter, we lose one of the better defensive specialist coaches around. Would be hard to avoid slipping on D next year unless they can find another defensive whiz on short notice.
He could’ve been on this staff before. He ain’t leaving Niko unless he wants a head job would be my thoughts.A lot of love for Thoreson on a previous topic, anyone feel like he would be a good target if Jeter leaves?
Didn’t realize they were that bad. Always thought he had such a big role running the defense with Bo back in the day.Again, really like Rob and the hire but wondered what made you think he was a defensive specialist. what color...what gender identification...but not the most qualified.....With Jeter leaving the Gophers need to add a person of color to the staff.
I hear you loud and clear. As a multi ethnic human, is there actually any other kind ? I resent any decisions on hiring being based on the pigmentation of skin. Hire the best fit for coaching college basketball players at the U. Grateful for having a family that taught us to be the best person we could be, be thoughtful, be kind, get a education, help others and never take anything for free.what color...what gender identification...but not the most qualified.....
I guess I liked what I saw with my eyes: night-and-day better footwork and technique than in past years. Oturu stayed out of foul trouble, while Lynch was never able to.Again, really like Rob and the hire but wondered what made you think he was a defensive specialist. He took Bens role in the staff. Lindsted took Kimanis role.Did Jeter replace Kimani or Ben Johnson?
everyone is talking like this is a done deal.... is it official?
That is interesting to hear after watching Wisconsin's burn offense all of those years. Bo did adjust though to his personnel, I looked up there KenPom on the 2014 and 2015 Final Four teams. Wisconsin offense was 4 and 1, in respective offense nationally. Defense was 35 in both years.Makes me feel old. I saw Jeter play in college at UW-Platteville under Bo Ryan. In fact, I was standing and watching a game. Guy standing next to me had this huge ring. I realized it was Bob Jeter - Rob's dad and a member of the Packers' Super Bowl teams under Lombardi. Not a dude you would mess with.
Those were some incredible teams. Full-court press as vicious as any I've ever seen. other teams had trouble just getting the ball over half-court.
UWP would put on the press, get a steal and a quick fast-break basket, then do it again, and roll off a 10-point run in a heartbeat.
it was all up-tempo and pressure. Needless to say, not exactly the style Bo played by the time he got to Wisconsin.
