Illini football ends poll drought, ranked for first time in 11 years

They have beaten:
Wyoming
Chattanooga
A team that’s fired it’s coach
A team that might have the worst offense in the history of the conference post penn state expansion
The 13th best team in the ACC (Virginia)

They have lost to:
Indiana

That gets you ranked this year because everyone is losing games and they’ve only lost one.
But it doesn’t mean they are good.
Michigan state was top 12 23 days ago.
Coaches poll has MN and Maryland ahead of Purdue. Polls continue to be dumb this early in the season.

Our Schedule so far is not helping our perception. (Not saying you or I think MN should be ranked)

Beat a 1-5 New Mexico State
Beat a 0-5 Western Illinois
Beat a 0-5 Colorado
Beat a 2-4 MSU team (Washington is now 1-2 in the PAC 12)

Purdue lost to two 5-0 teams in Syracuse and Penn State on final drives. Purdue should be the only Ranked West team at this time IMO if anyone is ranked.

This all changes again in 5 days.

Because people watched the games
Minnesota and Purdue play tomorrow and the gophers are 6 point favorites

That's where we see things differently.

Every keyboard coordinator/warrior claims he knows how and why the play-calling "sucks". Just listen to the radio postgame call-in shows.

None of these keyboard commandos — not a one — could even come close to functioning rationally under the game-time pressure that coaches face every single week. If they could do it, they'd be making big money doing it. They haven't got the goods, pure and simple.

It's a ridiculous argument.

This isn't a video game.
Doesn’t need to be a video game to tell that a TE screen 6 yards behind the line of scrimmage with no blockers out front that doesn’t Fool anyone is a terrible play call.
And the two teams ran them in back to back possessions.

Seriously if you aren’t going to put blockers out front you have to wait for them to overcommit which clearly they didn’t. So it was either horribly timed or horribly coached all week. In either/both cases horrible calls.
