Ibrahim, Potts Named to Watch List for Comeback Player of the Year Award

Minnesota running backs Mohamed Ibrahim and Trey Potts were both named to the Watch List for college football's Comeback Player of the Year Award today. The award is presented annually by College Sports Communicators, the Associated Press and the Fiesta Bowl Organization.

The award recognizes college football student-athletes from all divisions of college football for overcoming injury, illness, or other circumstances. At the conclusion of each season, in a vote by a panel of writers, editors, and sports information directors, three college football student-athletes will be honored as Comeback Player of the Year Award winners at the College Football Playoff Semifinal at the Fiesta Bowl.

Both Ibrahim and Potts suffered season-ending injuries in 2021, but have rebounded to provide a dynamic backfield for the Golden Gopher offense.

Ibrahim has rushed 89 times in four games for 567 yards and eight touchdowns. He is averaging 141.75 rushing yards per game and has rushed for at least 100 yards in the last 13 games he has played in. Earlier this year, he scored his 41st career rushing touchdown to set a Minnesota program record for most career rushing touchdowns.

Potts has played in five games for the Gophers this year and has rushed 62 times for 304 yards and three scores.

Go Gophers!!
