He didn't pass the NCAA Clearinghouse so USC's hands were tied. He couldn't come to USC on an athletic scholarship if the NCAA wouldn't clear him.

See above. Players have to meet the minimum qualifications of the NCAA. If Seantrel passed the NCAA Clearinghouse I'm confident that Brewster would find a way to get him through admissions just as USC will be able to do.
