How do you feel about the state of program right now?

I am very disappointed in the start this season. At times they have looked really dynamic.

The last two seasons, I have seen the team play better as the year goes on, and the team has never quit.

I want to see the rest of this season before I make any decisions.

I’m not optimistic, but I’d like to see CBJ succeed, just like I’ve hoped every coach at The ”U” succeed.

GEDJ!

There is zero leadership at the top here at the U.We will continue to go for the surprise homerun instead of paying some money to a proven winner.

Last year, sure. We definitely got better at the end of the season, and the team didn't quit (beating Rutgers, should've beaten Wisconsin at home, beating Nebraska in the BTT).

Two years ago- I think you should perhaps review how we finished up the season in Ben's first year.

How I feel after every game the past 2+ seasons, disinterested. If only I could stop checking the scores.

But like an old fool, I keep on checking hoping for mass improvement.

Yeah, I think I'll still take the other guy.
Of course, that wasn't the point of my comment or the previous one. It was about an observation of one game, in which the observation was absolutely true that one night. No one involved in either of the comments was making any assessment of their preferred coach, as your post implies.

For the record, I'll take the other guy, too.

I understand Holy Man. I wasn't directing my comment at your presumed preference or any other poster's preference although it may have come off that way. My initial anecdote was related to the silliness of trying to derive any meaningful conclusion of a coach based on one game's banter when the coach knew he was mic'd up.

Reusse is disingenuous and intellectually dishonest, but he's not a liar, and he has good sources.
He sometimes has good sources...and he is definitely a liar. You can play semantics saying he is "intellectually dishonest" but it is all the same. He knows he is spewing nonsense and does it anyways often to troll.

It's not entirely effort, but fund raising and networking is a skill. A very important skill for a modern power 5 athletic director.

Gopher basketball ranked in the top 25 in the nation in attendance every year from 1990 to 2003 and again four out of five years between 2009 and 2013. It has a fan base to raise $$ from, even if it's driven many of them away. It's not some impossible gig.
In fact, Gopher basketball ranked in the top 10 in the nation in attendance almost every year between 1972 and 1984, including #1 in 1975. It started dropping a bit after the scandal in 1986 and with the renovation cutting seating in the early 1990s. (Up to 1977, the source below only showed the top 10.)

Actual raw #'s I found. Amazing we held out above 10K all the way to 2022. I'm sure last year went below and this year...yikes.

Wow! So we were always in the top 25 in the nation in attendance for over 30 straight years- ranging from the early 1970s to 2003. That is a huge credit to a fan base that saw lots of ups and downs during that same time frame.

He is? Based on what?
if you're referring to X's and O's, Pitino teams were constantly outcoached. Many times, they were good unit half time and the other team/coach made adjustments and MN didn't make the necessary adjustments to counteract the other team's adjustments. In addition, Pitino's assistants did most of the taking and drawing up plays during timeouts. If Pitino was such a good XO's coach, he would have been offered a job at a better school AND not had his salary cut by 2/3's from his mn contract.

Do you think he had average or above average talent to work with? I think that in the couple of years he did- he did just fine.

I didn't say Pitino was a good X's and O's coach. He wasn't. He wasn't awful either. Probably slighly below average. I asked on what basis the OP was opining that Ben is better. There's little evidence of that. I would say our inbounds plays are better. Beyond that, I don't see it.

What is the average attendance # going to be this year? 6K? 7K?
