It's tough to get a 6th year waiver when one of the years was missed due to a regular redshirt. The player is supposed to have missed two seasons for "circumstances beyond their control" to possibly get the 6th year.

It may be possible to get the Medical Waiver, I know that he played in a game this year, but I cant remember which one or ones. If he played during the Big Ten season then he will definitely not have a chance. GophersInIowa is right that it is harder than people think to get the waiver. I will say though, that I was shocked when Troy Stoudermire got his Medical Waiver even though he played in the North Dakota State game.
