Florida's Jalen Kitna, the son of ex-NFL QB Jon Kitna, has been jailed on multiple felony complaints involving child pornography.

Lotta discussion elsewhere about if this is someone he knew and they both were young and he was dumb enough to share it ... or something else.

There's really no details.

Right. Was it sexy pics when he and a fellow person were both under age like a video or texts, or was it something much more nefarious?

Agreed. Not sure if it makes it any worse or better, but instantly when I hear child pornography I think of the creepy guy in the basement with naked pictures of 6 year olds - really hope that isn't the case.

Definitely not an ex-girlfriend situation. Multiple pictures found on his devices. Shared on message boards. Claims he thought it was OK be cause he "found them online".

If it's that bad, you don't just "find it online" on pornhub or something like that. Pretty sure you have to dig for that kind of garbage.

Here's the charge sheet.

No doubt. Just quoting the article and police report.

I personally know a FBI agent that has worked these cases and he say they are always pay sites.

I'm sure they do "find" it online, it's just not the places normal people go.

Yeah, this does not look like an underage GF situation.

The dude is young, so I sure hope he can change. It makes me think of the the MN Security Hospital in St. Peter and how they got into hot water because they weren't providing tangible goals for inmates to meet for release, and so they were imprisoned without a structured sentence/release schedule. The problem they found out, however, and why it was set up that way is that once you get into this kind of thing, the rate of recidivism is insanely high. I'm not specifically talking about Kitna and his situation and what he may or may not have done. But generally speaking, once you're into this kind of thing, it doesn't really go away.

Gen Z's porn habits start with first smart phone, and progress through levels of deviancy. Some end up here.

Question: how does something like this tendency/interest develop? Are you born this way? Or does something happen along the way that grabs you and pulls you into this? BTW, is he a qb? Does he play?

He’s is a QB, their backup and played last week when the starter went down in the FSU game - three star recruit from Seattle.

Can’t speak to you other questions.

That kid singing along to a rap song doesn’t seem so bad now.

...and boomers had to steal a Playboy from their dad and go out in the woods. Seems that some ended up here, as well.

Seems like if there is payment involved it should be fairly easy to locate those who actually setup, manage, and are responsible for the photo's then? I can't imagine it's as a google search and giving a credit card like shopping online.

A guy like Epstein wasn't Gen Z and his crap started well before smartphones ever came into existence.

Digital makes access to this garbage much more readily available, quick and convenient. One could argue the vessel makes the perpetrator, and there is probably some truth to that. However, I am more inclined to believe the perpetrators have always existed, and the vessels they use to obtain their twisted fantasies depends on the tech available at the time. In 2022, it is smartphones and computers. In 1982, it is probably picture books that are bought through the mail or in person. In 1882, it is probably a back room in some seedy saloon. The common denominator is they are all "pay to play" options. It isn't something a casual user is going to find any old place.

Proxy servers and VPNs can make tracking online activity challenging - that site is likely on the Dark Web as well.

It is a very interesting question, and one that has a variety of factors at play.

Instead of rewriting a bunch of stuff, here is a good link that helps to explain what researches have found over the years as to what drives a person towards pedophilia.

I think most commerce on the dark web uses crypto, making it hard to track. That's how the original silk road site worked.

The Algorithm grooms casual users into addicted users. It used to be understood that children needed to be protected. No more.

It is still understood that way. That is why it is illegal and why this perp was arrested.

No search engine in their right mind is going to steer users towards anything that is illegal, so there aren't going to be algorithms doing social engineering to push users towards child porn. The addiction will drive some users towards more and more extreme content over time, but it will be something they deliberately seek to acquire through various back channels.

The grooming would happen if this guy happened to be trying to produce the content himself and needed to lure unsuspecting children into his dimented world. Maybe he was doing that, too. Time will tell.

Children? I have no idea. That's some next level gross.

One wild speculation - Jon Kitna was about the NFL's biggest holy roller when he played. Sons of pastors, priests, and clergy (and even clergy themselves) are way overrepresented in (18+) porn addiction groups. Utah consumes the most porn of any state. Repression, lack of education, and unhealthy attitudes toward sexuality can be a big factor in developing deviant behaviors.
