Fleck won’t measure his football team’s 2018 season by how many games the Gophers win

Too early speculate on the season for a number of reasons. I just hope they give it their best shot and let it play out.

In 2019 we will have a team that could win the MAC. Where TC had us in 2016.

I don't want this to devolve into a Claeys v. Fleck argumentQUOTE]

Then don’t.

The comparison is pointless and the situations and expectations for Claeys would be different than those for Fleck.

Fleck was hired to move the program in a new direction and he’s doing that. He was given the keys and our AD bought into Flecks schtick hook line and sinker.

He will get time to show what he can do.

He has a point that he’s trying to make with his bs about not caring about wins. It’s poorly made, repeatedly, but like the Honey Badger, PJ Fleck don’t care.

It’s unfortunate, but he’s digging his own hole. If he can climb out of it, no one will remember how asinine he sounded in year 2. If he can’t, he may not be a HC again. Either way it’s all on him and the results. Wins. Recruiting. Culture. Will bear out no matter what he says or thinks. It will be what he does.

"Winning in the Big Ten in 2018 really doesn't matter to PJ...": the ANTHEM...

PJ doesn't have to worry about number of wins
It is wren"s job to count Big 10 wins

Is this the real life, is this just fantasy?
Caught in a landslide no escape from reality
Open your eyes look up to the skies and see
I'm just a poor boy, I need no sympathy
Because I'm easy come, easy go
    A little high, little low
    Anyway the wind blows
Doesn't really matter to me, to me
    Mama, just killed a man
Put a gun against his head
Pulled my trigger, now he's dead
    Mama, life had just begun
But now I've gone and thrown it all away
    Mama, ooh, ooh
Didn't mean to make you cry
If I'm not back again this time tomorrow
Carry on, carry on as if nothing really matters
Too late, my time has come
    Sends shivers down my spine
    Body's aching all the time
Goodbye everybody, I've got to go
Gotta leave you all behind and face the truth
Mama, ooh (anyway the wind blows) I don't want to die
I sometimes wish I'd never been born at all
I see a little silhouette of a man
Scaramouch, scaramouch will you do the fandango
Thunderbolt and lightning, very, very frightening me
    Gallileo, Gallileo, Gallileo, Gallileo,
    Gallileo Figaro magnifico
But I'm just a poor boy and nobody loves me
He's just a poor boy from a poor family
Spare him his life from this monstrosity
Easy come easy go will you let me go
Bismillah, no we will not let you go, let him go
Bismillah, we will not let you go, let him go
Bismillah, we will not let you go, let me go
Will not let you go, let me go (never)
Never let you go, let me go
    Never let me go, ooh
No, no, no, no, no, no, no
Oh mama mia, mama mia, mama mia let me go
Beelzebub has a devil put aside for me
    For me, for me
So you think you can stone me and spit in my eye
So you think you can love me and leave me to die
Oh baby, can't do this to me baby
Just gotta get out, just gotta get right outta here
Ooh yeah, ooh yeah nothing really matters
Anyone can see nothing really matters
    Nothing really matters to me
    Anyway the wind blows

Can't wait for this pic to get released.

I'm measuring PJ's success on the following.

Year 1 (Year 0): Number of media appearances PJ makes to promote the program
Year 2 (Year 1): Number of recruits recruited who will either be freshman or sophomores during the 2019 football season
Year 3 (Year 2): Number of Freshman / Sophomores who are starting

Until Big Ten WIN numbers can confirm we are not headed back to the WILDERMESS, all I can say is: "...time and the Big Ten W/L percentages will tell..." Walking in the wilderness for so long left a very "tough spot to try to "row" out of. PJ seems to be indicating that in a lot of different ways. I am interested in seeing how long the fan base can hang on with just a couple Big Ten wins each season. Maybe this will be a good year for Big Ten wins in Minneapolis...maybe not. No matter what, Coyle has indicated that he won't/can't SPRING into short-list territory in analyzing his personally hand-picked coach...no matter what. That means PJ is very comfortable and with his outlook, stress will not be an issue for him. Or...will it?
