1. What drew me to cover college football nearly three decades ago was the passion and the pageantry. What has kept me interested is men like Jerry Kill. No one who saw or heard Kill's resignation as Minnesota head coach on Wednesday will forget his devotion to the young men in his charge. Nor will anyone forget witnessing the pain he feels in leaving the coaching profession behind and his worry about what lies ahead. Kill is a private man in a public business. It took him years to come forward and discuss his epilepsy. He gave all of us a gift on Wednesday.
