You may recall the news last year that Tubby Smith’s nephew was killed at a party. This article follows up on that sad, senseless story:

I’ve discovered where the point guards were who were missing from DeCourcy’s list yesterday, but does anyone really consider Talor Battle a shooting guard? Scottie Reynolds for that matter? And how can the backcourt duo for California of Jerome Randle and Patrick Christopher be completely overlooked in his rankings? Anyway, good fodder for discussion:

Remember this article about Lance Stephenson when we’re in March; I will be mighty surprised if the articles written then speak so highly of him as a teammate at that point of the season:

Keep an eye out for J’Covan Brown this season. That he’s considered the favorite for point guard on a Final Four caliber team after a year off from basketball tells you he’s pretty talented:

College Hoops Net has Northwestern checking in at #71 in their rankings, just outside of the NCAA tournament:

When I read this blog from Jeff Goodman, the name I kept thinking about was Stan Gaines. At the very bottom of this blog is a note on South Carolina, where it appears Darrin Horn is piecing together a very nice recruiting class:

Here’s a look at the top 12 mid-major players stepping into the season, which is always fun to keep an eye upon:

You’ll notice I gave you quite a bit of reading material today, that’s because I will be traveling over the next couple days so The Daily Skinny will return on Monday.

I think the true PG has gone the way of the Model T. Once they were popular but now you don't see them very often but when you do you notice. Look at Lawson true PG and people noticed. Most guards now trying to be combo guards. Taylor Battle is right int that vien, can score and still can handle the ball. While they might not make the best decision 100% of the time(most PG don't do that either) they are still very useable. Personally I would rather have to combo guards that can score and handle the ball vs the traditional 1 and 2. I think it makes your team much more dangerous because you have more options handling the ball and scoring.

This is absolutely off topic, but do those pop-up ads embedded in the text piss the rest of you off too?

I make note of what products use them and try to avoid them in the future.

But then, I haven't eaten at a Burger King for years just because I hate that King.
