Below is a list of the 8 lowest ranked P6 teams in the newest Sagarin Rankings. Note that Minnesota has moved up about 30 places in this ranking over the last couple of weeks and is now at the top of this group.
This table shows the performances of those teams in the opening round of their conference tournaments. We are the only one of the 8 to win the opening game. Coach Johnson has used the word "resilient" to describe the team and this result provides some evidence of that. This team didn't pack it in at the end of a tough season and deserves some respect for that.
P.S. In that Twitter joke about the proposed losers' tournament between us and Georgetown, Louisville, and California, most of the responses said that we would win that tournament. I guess they knew what they were talking about.
